I haven't read every reply in this
thread do someone may have mentioned this already.
I am not a qualified medical professional but I work with many.
The answer to your situation has jumped out at me though due to something a qualified pharmacist said to me a few weeks ago (and it explains why the doctor has told you to cut down smoking in a phased manner)
In basic terms: nicotine suppresses the effect of many types of medication. You state you take many medications
You've drastically cut down the amount of nicotine taken into your system.
Yet the medication dosages you've taken have remained the same or increased in some cases.
The effects of the medication on your system have been altered because of the alteration in your nicotine intake.
It's unlikely the effects would be as drastic if you weren't taking any regular medication.
Follow the advice of your doctor. If you take any kind of regular medication make sure your doctor is aware of any alteration in smoking habit as they may need to alter dosages of your medication or even move you onto different kinds of medication.
