Hey all,

I've read a lot of posts about the cost of e-cigs that have me concerned. How much a month do you spend on yours based on how often/much you smoke with it?

I'm debating between a pen style and a mini. I'm having a hard time choosing and I think it comes down to cost. Mainly of buying new batteries and atomizers all the time. The carts don't bother me because I'd be paying more in tobacco cigs anyway.

One more, sorry, I've seen a lot of starter kits that include some carts with them. Great idea- wrong flavor. I can't stand the taste of a non-menthol cigarette so is there a flavoring I could add to the intro carts that doesn't have nicotine already in it?

I've been glomming the forum and I might have missed these questions, if they're really obvious repeats I'd be glad to follow a link to the answer.

when I smoked tobacco fire stix,
35 a day, average.....
my cost was 5,000.00 per year.
with e-cig starter and replacements
costs good for a year would be 500.00

now with usb on the 'puter
and usb wall plug at my lounge chair,
and usb battery box for going out,
cost for the year is 180.00

I am sooooooo happy,
my husband and my bank account are thrilled,

Gemi, I think what would put most people off would be the initial start up costs (especially if you're like me and want to try out all different style cigs, different juices etc ). It can become a bit like a kid in a sweetie shop, you want everything you see. :D

Most people probably couldn't justify [to themselves] shelling out £60 or so to buy a starter kit, spare atomizer and extra carts when they could just spend £6 on the next packet of fags, or, in my case, £11 on a pouch of rolling tobacco, especially as there's no guarantee that they'll take to eCigging enough to give up on the analogues.

The scary thing is that a 20 a day [UK] smoker spends approx £2000 a year on their habit. I'm a rollie smoker and I, minus the odd duty free stash I get brought back for me ;), spend approx £1300 a year. 8-o

If it works for you, and obviously there's no guarantee, then I'd imagine it would be much cheaper long term. Once you find the eCig(s) that works for you, then you'll just be buying new parts along the way, you won't have to buy starter kits each time.

I'm just glad I decided to take the plunge.

If I manage to spend more than £1300 on eCigging in the next 12 months I'll be worried... although Simon will be delighted, might even get a Christmas card next year :D

hmm 180 a year?

For me, cigarettes (pack a day B&H) were ~=AUD4000 ~= USD2700 / year.

I now smoke about 3mL / day. Buying NPG from Johnsons Creek, that's USD85 / month = USD1020 / year just on juice. Atomizers etc. would bring that up. And I still go through a couple of cigarette packs a week.

How do you figure 180 a year, di? Or does that exclude liquid?

I brought one kit for £30 (901), and sample of juice £20. This would have been enough for me for a few months if the batteries lasted. The only problem is i had to buy more kits because my partner started E smoking, then there is buying different juices in different Nicotine levels... I then wanted to try a pen style, so brought a kit for that.
I think trying different E cigs is costly if you decide to do that, but im a shopoholic. E smoking doesnt have to be costly if you are strict with yourself and look after them.

I just buy juice 18mg..but you seem to have a great system going..why do you buy glyc & propglycol separatly..? First time I bought carts then quickly learnt e-juice & reccycle carts to save money ..now it sounds like I should buy higher strength & "water=glycerin" it down?..Thanks for helping, Di!

well, I look at it this way,

I smoked 8mg tobacco cigs,
so I want to vape about 8mg strength of eliquid.
so if I buy 24 or 28mg and reduce it down x2,
should be about 8mg right ?
and I have 3 times as much for the same cash.

I buy propyl glycol and glycerine separately cos I can make my own proportions for my mix, 50/50 or 60/40 or whatever I want.

sounds perfectly logical!
I'm buyin diff strengths for 3 of us vaping here so instead could buy 1 & "water" it down according to each specific need..
but where did you get propyl glycol, or glycerin also the USB wall plug & USB battery to move around with..
(you probably answered that already on some threads.but would be happy to see it all in one place!..)

Hi all here is link to where I got my stuff,
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...uests/3572-usb-e-cig-suppliers.html#post68534

you should be able to find this stuff in your own country, look around, or use ebay.
MAKE SURE THEY ARE 1000MAH (1A) USB OUTPUT
be careful - lots of them are 250mah, 500mah, ....
BATTERIES - use rechargeables - 2500 mah ....

pro glycol --- Ace chemical co. Adelaide Australia,
try chemical suppliers, or ask at pharmacy.
glycerine, FOOD GRADE - supermarket or pharmacy.

Atomizers -- get some 4 hole and 2 hole ones,
all works for me on 'puter usb, and battery pack and battery box,
but my wall plug usb adapter only works with my 2 hole atomizers, I have no idea why.....
maybe my 4 hole ones are too loose a draw and so do not make it work.
