vaping 2 years 7 months if you count from my first ecig, even though I still smoked off and on for a few months longer.

vaping exclusively, and no smoking at all, for 1 year 10 months.

Effects exclusively positive, whatever measure you care to apply - health, energy, smell, family and friends and doctor approval, etc, etc, etc.

Hi, I've been vaping for a year last April. As soon as my Intellicig EVO arrived, I put away my analogs in the closet, and never looked back. It was soooo much better than smoking. My dogs smelled GOOD, my house smelled GOOD, I smelled GOOD, etc. I love it. After about 8 months, one of the atomizers failed and I ran to the store and bought a pack of cigarettes. I was disgusted with myself, but smoked cigarettes until my new atomizers arrived. I'm soon to have back surgery, and am taking my EVO to the hospital with me. I've weened myself away from cigarettes again, and am anxious to see what happens at the hospital. My EVO batteries have not failed for more than a year, and I've had only one atomizer fail. Love vaping!

I will be at a year end of September/beginning of October. So far the effects have only been positive. Every 6 months I have my blood tested. My doctor could not be more pleased with the results since I have stopped smoking.

I have also discovered that I can walk multiple flights of stairs without wheezing. :D

Another odd side effect is that I have increased my daily intake of water due to the drying effects of vaping. This was unexpected and very health!

Hi Trashguy,
I've been vaping since April 2009. I felt great for the first couple of weeks.
The crackle in my chest went away almost immediately. Stopped coughing up brown crap in the morning. I can smell smokers now... in the car behind me at a traffic light!! whether that's good or bad... I quit smoking in my house and if this kills me, they can bury me in something that doesn't smell like cigarette smoke.

But overall, I have battled with sinus and ear issues that have only subsided when I supplemented with analogs for a short time.
The bleeding gums only lasted a couple of weeks but my gums have been receding since shortly after I started vaping and I never had any dental issues in 35 years of smoking 2+ packs a day.
Weight gain, depression, brain fog....

For me, It's not the be all and end all. It's just a choice.

Hello 42109. Im curious about the depression and brain fog that you meantion, I seem to be experiencing similar things. It seems some people do have these reactions but they seem to be in the minority around here, too few to generate more valid questions as to why. All I can gather is that pg (and maybe vg) might be a cns depressant and the possibilities concern me. I also now have gums that bleed very easily and Ive only been vaping for 4 months also glands swollen like a balloon.
Anyway, I agree it is a trade off, hopefully a better one, but Im wondering do you have any info on the depressive reaction? Also I still cant figure out why/how vaping interacts with antidepressants..do you?
Thanks!

Weight gain, depression, brain fog, bleeding gums - ALL symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Along with a whole slew of other symptoms too, including, for example, chest tightness, sleep disturbances, sore throat, coughing, mucus, headaches, gas, stomach pains, etc, etc.

WhyQuit - Nicotine Withdrawal and Recovery Symptoms

I cannot tell you how many times I've seen people talk about "symptoms" they attribute to vaping (or to e-liquid ingredients), when the most likely basis for them is the reduction in nicotine they are getting from stopping smoking!

i would love to believe this but i havent seen any concrete proof
that we are getting less nicotine. i did switch from 11mg which i started with
to 6mg and 0mg for a week and had a bad reaction , light headed, couldnt concentrate and feeling cloudy. i went back to 11mg and the same liquid
brand and it went away. since then i did have a few cloudy days though. im still not sure if it was lower nic , different brand e juice or body adjusting to not smoking tobacco?

It seems to me that this will always be the issue with studies on the safety of vaping vs. smoking.

It is difficult on an individual basis to separate the symptoms related to analog withdrawal and vaping in and of itself.

We need to get some friends hooked on 0 nic juice and see what happens to them. ;)

Or if anyone can stop vaping without buying packs, see what clears up and what doesn't.

Man, I never realized how tough it is to have a truly objective and precise scientific testing regimen.

LOL, trashguy - it seems to me like your own experience is precisely the "proof" you're asking for.

So many people seem to want to start out with, or move quickly to, really low mg levels of nic liquid (perhaps having bought into all the published hysteria about how "toxic" nicotine is), and then post about similar symptoms of feeling "cloudy" or "brain fog", etc. I think a lot of the "chest tightness" (and other kinds of) complaints I've seen over the past two years here are really attributable to nicotine withdrawal too. Those are certainly all symptoms I've personally experienced during my oh-so-many quit smoking attempts in the past.

I know I need my nicotine. I exclusively use 36 mg liquid, and am perfectly content to stay there forever. :D No brain fog for me!
