I've been vaping since May, and my setup has been:

  • a couple of 1100mah Ego-C Twists
  • tank clearomizers (started out with Vivi Nova 2.5 & mini, and switched to Kanger ProTank 2 & mini) running a 2.2 atty head at 4.4-4.6V (8.8-9.6W).

I'm looking to get more vapor production (mine's nowhere what I see on Youtube vids), and I've fiddled quite a bit with this thing, but I think I'm pretty much at the limit. I've tried lower resistance heads, but they don't seem to make much of a difference. Also, I think my Egos may be dying, as they don't seem to last near as long on a charge lately. I do chain vape quite a bit, so I put them through their paces.

I guess a mod is the way to go, but I'm not sure what to get. I'd like something that will work with my Kanger tanks, but I'm willing to switch if necessary. I'd like to avoid dripping and rebuilding atomizers, as that seems a bit higher maintenance than I care for. Portability is a necessity.

So what would you guys reccomend?

Congrats...you have graduated to APV (Advanced Personal Vapers)

There are many types out there...currently the culmination of technology has led to a "box form factor" rig called the MPV2, it is a Variable Voltage/Variable Wattage device that no matter what head you put on it, it will deliver the same vape each and every time. it has USB passthru capability, internal battery (no need to keep swapping batteries) and can act as an emergency portable power pack.

Innokin iTaste MVP V 2.0 Brief Introduction

Regular price they run around $70, currently there is a special at 101vape for $39.99 and $3 shipping!
Innokin iTaste MVP V2.0 - 101 Vape

The little brother to the MVP2 is the iTaste VV V3 which an eGo sized VV/VW device, much smaller but also the battery is smaller

There are better rigs that cost quite a bit more but this is an option many people are now taking looking for "budget" rigs
It's called the Provari..and it is probably the best out there as of right now, definitely ONE of the best, at the very least the leader of the pack :p

Here's mine

Started with a Vamo V3 (which is another budget VV/VW device but does everything the bigger badder better version do) :D

Welcome and Vape On!!!

I'm a girl, and the box mod is VERY comfortable in hand. You simply cannot beat the price and functionality of an MVP 2.0. I charge it about every 2.5-3 days and I'd say I'm a moderate to heavy vaper. I don't have a Vamo, but I have heard of poor threading and wonky tank issues especially with the Protanks. There are some airflow problems with the Vamo and Protanks. I dunno. I'm a bit of an MPV fan girl, but it's a great mod. Just sayin' . . . to each their own.

Also, keep in mind that vapor production isn't just a result of what mod you are using, although that does play a part. Normally if you are seeing huge plumes of vapor it is due to the juice being high in VG and/or the tank/wick/coil set up.
I'm glad you touched on this, because vapor production is really my main reason for stepping up. My juice is from a local B&M, and it's 70/30. I was under the impression that if I could put more power to the coil with a mod, it would up the vapor production. If this isn't the case, I either need to look at what will improve it, or stick with what I've got.

There is also the eGo Twist type batteries which are like the eGo's and are Variable Voltage but not Variable Wattage (you have to manually select the voltage with the end cap
Yeah, that's what I'm using. I was hoping for something that could pump more volts through the coil.

Going since May on a couple of eGo batts? Looks like you like to use your gear on the long term. I'd say get a Provari (available in mini form) with the extended 2 year warranty. It'll run you about $200 but it's a VV mod that will work well with any atty, and have free repairs for 1-2 years, depending on the warranty option you take. After that, they'll still repair your mod for a reasonable price, from what I hear.

I don't even own a Provari, but I've never heard a bad thing about them, other than that they're a little out-dated, being that they only have VV, and not VW, and they have no integrated adjustable airflow. If I could afford one, I would get it, so take the recommendation for what it's worth.

Doh...page 2..haha didn't go back again

Vamo V5 is what they are up to now...(Vamo V2 body, with the internals and beauty ring top of the V3)
Honestly if you are looking for budget rigs go there, the rest do the exact same thing but cost much more

You can also go mechanical with a kick...I have this coming in...cost me $21.24

What it is, a plain "mechanical" mod...simple battery, pushbutton, the kick is the "circuitry" of an APV, you set the wattage you want it to push, plunk it inside the tube, follow it with a battery, then vape away...without the circuitry you have NO control of how low you discharge the battery, and no protection if you accidentally hit the fire button..it will keep heating and heating and heating...the kick has a low voltage cutoff and a timeout...

Ordering from FT...can take anywhere from a few weeks to a month (I have been using USPS option they just started, but I have 10 orders thru FT and mine always come in...YMMV however)

P.S. Without the kick the extension on the tube allows for an 18650 battery, with the kick you use 18500 batteries, most recommended place to get them is RDTVapor, I am planning on getting me some Efest 18500's, I currently run 18650's in my Vamo V3

If you need anything vaping related and need it SOON...DO NOT ORDER IT FROM FASTTECH, but if you want much more inexpensive stuff in a while...then FT is a decent place to order from...as I said YMMV

Sorry to hijack the thread, but would you mind clarifying the kick feature a bit more? Please correct me if I'm mistaken, but if I run a mechanical mod and throw in the kick, you can set a desired wattage? So basically, would I have the same performance of the innokin 134 but in a different body? Thanks in advance!

Sure...same as the Vamo...the Innokin 134 has that extra bling of tubes and whatnot strapped to it (to make it look cool)...makes it look like a Vamo with a chaingun wrapped around it :D

Kick feature is that of almost ANY APV...but unlike normal APV's where you have the ability to push a button to change the settings..the kick is a manual set addon, you don't have a way to get to it internally without taking the battery tube apart...a "set it and forget" it APV circuit

OK, that's really good to know, big thanks!! BTW, how do you adjust the kick add-on? Is there a small switch/lever on the kick device itself, or do you need to modify the circuit in some other way?

Blue potentiometer, little screwdriver (flat tip item) poke in, turn it to your setting you want "max goes up to 12 watts" done...

At 12 o'clock on the image above little diagram shows you where the two dots on each side of the + should be to give you the wattage...I always ran my Vamo V3 and now my MVP2 at 6.5 watts...so I am going to set it at 7 on the kick to see how it rocks

Pushing more power will help but if you're looking for those larger, milky white clouds of vapor then up your VG ratio. Also, be advised that VG gives significantly less throat hit than juices with greater PG ratios. High VG also tends to gunk up wicks and coils faster as well.
