Pushing more power will help but if you're looking for those larger, milky white clouds of vapor then up your VG ratio. Also, be advised that VG gives significantly less throat hit than juices with greater PG ratios. High VG also tends to gunk up wicks and coils faster as well.

+1. Rather than buying new kit increase your VG level first. It could be that that's all you're missing.

If you do that and you're still not satisfied then a Vamo is a good step up imho.. I'd leave mechanicals alone for now. The protection provided by an APV also brings with it peace of mind. And I'd definitely avoid sub-ohm, as there are plenty of ways of getting more vape without overstressing your battery. Just my two pence. :)

I love the iTaste SVD. Telescoping and well built. That is what I upgraded to from an eGo. I use a 18350 for when I'm out and about. Pretty small in that configuration, about the same height as an eGo 1100mah.

I just got a Smok Magneto as my first step into mechs. There is a lot out there and I'm sure you will be happy with most of the VV/VW mods offered.

I've been vaping since May, and my setup has been:

  • a couple of 1100mah Ego-C Twists
  • Tank clearomizers (started out with Vivi Nova 2.5 & mini, and switched to Kanger ProTank 2 & mini) running a 2.2 atty head at 4.4-4.6V (8.8-9.6W).

I'm looking to get more vapor production (mine's nowhere what I see on Youtube vids), and I've fiddled quite a bit with this thing, but I think I'm pretty much at the limit. I've tried lower resistance heads, but they don't seem to make much of a difference. Also, I think my Egos may be dying, as they don't seem to last near as long on a charge lately. I do chain vape quite a bit, so I put them through their paces.

I guess a mod is the way to go, but I'm not sure what to get. I'd like something that will work with my Kanger tanks, but I'm willing to switch if necessary. I'd like to avoid dripping and rebuilding atomizers, as that seems a bit higher maintenance than I care for. Portability is a necessity.

So what would you guys reccomend?

I went from ego batteries to a vamo with vivis and smokas and pro tanks. now I use a mechanical and rbas and rdas.

IMHO the vamo served me well. However, at some point, I tried mechanicals and was no longer satisfied again. I went mechanical for a smaller size and a more satisfying vape. It all depends on what works for you.

I assume you started vaping to keep off smokes. So long as your setup does that for you safely, it's working. :)

I know there's a ton of info out there. And to each their own. But not everyone's dream vape is everyone else's. Stick to your guns. Figure out exactly what you need out of your device. I guarantee there is something out there within your budget that will fulfill your needs.

If you want vv or vw a vamo or any other DNA 20 controlled device can be had for around $30. But, tried and true and still on top (arguably) is the provari. Personally at this point I think it's the only vv I would invest in. And at around $150 not all that bad compared to a mechanical unicorn.

If you want to go mechanical a clone would be an economical way to dip your toes in the pool before jumping in head first.

Bottom line, what works for you and fits your tastes is best.

Greetings Halcyon; I'm a newb who has followed pretty much the same path, right down to the eGo Twists. Motivated exactly by those large vapour plumes I see on YouTube vape gear reviews, I decided to get something with more kick. I got an APV last weekend, and it totally delivered the kind of experience I wanted. You won't regret getting an APV.

But the one I got was a budget model, and it was not a great choice; it started getting buggy after three days use (i.e. buttons not working consistently). So i'm arranging to return it, and I've now got a higher quality APV in the mail. I think build quality is worth paying extra for.

Glenn

To OP - I switched up to a mech mod from an Ego w Mini Protank and now in the car I find the airflow on the ego tank reaaaaly restrictive. I like big puffs. Where I live there is a vaping scene, so if you have one of those maybe check it out. Haven't seen anybody my age vaping around on the street yet, but I have seen college-aged folks. Good luck with you decision. I'm sure you'll be happy in the end. :thumb:

8-9w for A protank and you want to give it more power? Yr giving it too much as is.
I wouldnt go above 6.
A new mod will give you more functionality but will not give you any more vapor.

Greetings; Doesn't that really depend on personal preference? To get what I consider the most enjoyable vape, I keep my APV set at 9 or 9.5 watts (using a BCC clearo).

I have to disagree with that second sentence. I can say from personal experience that going from an eGo Twist to an APV will allow you a completely new vaping experience. The difference may or may not matter to a particular individual, but there is a difference.

Regards
Glenn

Keep in mind that sometimes the ambient lighting of the room the Youtube vid is made in will make the vapor cloud look thicker and larger than it really is if you were actually in the same room. Light can play tricks on the camera how it reflects off of the vapor. Just wanted to point that out.
