Right but is there any device that would be.. Better?

Better than the lavatube? Well the lavatube looks like an early version of the vamo.

The vamo6 ISK that goes up to 20 watts and is vv/vw I would consider much better. The lavatube seems to be vv-only.

Yeah. A ProVari.

That being said, I ran Kayfuns on multiple brass GP Paps clones from FastTech before being seduced away first by Heron atty clones and more recently by Erlkonigin clones. I ran 0.7-1.2 ohm coils in them and enjoyed the vape perfectly fine.

That being said, I'm pretty attached to my ZNA 50 clone.

Personally I've never understood why people run toppers like Kayfuns on mech mods, just doesn't make sense to me. For my way of thinking RBAs like Kayfuns or tanks like Aspires a regulated mod is the way to go and, with the onslaught of high powered devices, there is no drawback to going that route as the same device will easily fire a subohm RDA as well if you choose to go that route.

Can you run an RBA/Tank on a mech mod? Sure buy why would you when it isn't the best tool for the job.

It sounds to me like you're sort of torn. You like the Kayfun, but also want to blow clouds. If that's the case, do both. Continue with your Lavatube and Kayfun for out and about, at work, in the car, when you just want to relax sort of thing. Have a different setup with a Mech and RDA for when you're at the vape shop or with your buddies and want to cloud. The flavor is more pronounced and the clouds are bigger...but there is a trade-off, as discussed above. For me, I use my Provari Mini with Nautilus Mini or Rocket RTA (Kayfun clone) when at work or driving or out running errands, but use my Helios on top of my Nemesis when I don't have to be on the go.

I suppose the cheapest that works well is a 45$ Kick-2 in a 20$ mechanical.
A Provari is expensive compared to what? Where I live it cost me the same as 3 weeks worth of cigarettes.

All VW does for you is change the voltage for you. If you know the watts you want, and the resistance you have a VV device ends up doing the same thing. You just have to adjust the voltage yourself.

Neither VV or VW is magic, you can do the same thing by adjusting the resistance with a mechanical. I have vv PVs, vw PVs, and non adjustable PVs, and can get the exact same vape from all three types.

Here is how your post really reads:

I just bought a new family sedan and really enjoying it. Now I am thinking I would like to get into NASCAR racing. What car should I buy?

Take a long deep breath and get ready for a learning curve. Do ALL the research so nobody gets hurt.

The Kayfun is not a cloud chasing machine, so you will be starting from scratch.

A mech, RDA, multi-meter, batteries, charger, wire, and tools = $$$, even if you buy cheap.

I am no suggesting you don't go this route. It is a lot of fun in the end. Just go in blindly.

Here is some reading to get you started: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/state-o-flux/5403-advanced-education-mech-rba-users.html

    2 words my friend:

    Switch failure.

Every sub 200 dollar VV/VW mod I have bought had a bad switch within 6 months.....

Some I could fix some I could not.

Yes, the Mech requires alittle more attention to be paid too it (inspect batteries, check atty ohms, ) but the switch isnt going to fail on it like a Electronic mod.
