provari mini too long, thickness is fine.
ego battery 1100 mah too long
ego 650 size is fine... but lacks power
ego 450 size is perfect... maybe too skinny... but lacks power

so is there some way to put my 18490 batteries (or whatever battery) in a tube, put something on top to limit power (battery safety) and vape away? i set everything to 3.7 to 3.8 volts anyway so.... dont really want variable voltage....

I keep devices in my pocket, and i am rough on them, so rugged is a plus.

Oh and if it comes in black is best. And i use vision x-jets, aero-tanks, vivi nova, stuff like that; nothing fancy.

any ideas?

Yeah, sounds like a mech is in your future. Although you don't have to rule out a regulated mod if you want consistent power...

As to safety...please read up on that. Also, note that not all batteries are equal even if they are the right size. So safe chem batteries (like IMR) and also high-drain (high amp output). Good reputation counts here...so get em from a reputable source. Read up.

You can use a fuse if you wish for added safety...just make sure it fits in the mod with the battery...it adds a few mm.
And check out chargers too.

I use vv 2x14500 box mods. I like em because they don't roll and fit in a shirt pocket nicely. To each their own.

Inexpensive ($10) , small form factor, surprisingly durable, takes an 18350 rechargeable battery. Smoktech mechanical Gripper @ Mad Vapes.

i like the bagua... except for the bottom button, and i don't know if it has battery protection stuff or if it can be added, will look into it some.

Regulated mod sounds great. I basically want a provari that doesn't use two inches to enclose a button and a screen needlessly..
(i have all but destroyed the screen on provari after having it less than a month, it's pushed in and flopping around in there now...
I'm rough on stuff. Have to work for a living.) (i'd buy another one in a heartbeat if they shortened it up another inch+)

I'm not sure about box mods... just isn't my thing.

Mechanical gripper thingy i might give it a go for ten bucks... was hoping for a tube though. Fits my desire to be discrete and hide it in hand.

The ego's with replaceable battery ----- had no idea they existed. Makes so much sense now that i've seen it. Seems like i'd break it, but i will look into it some.

I'm not afraid to spend some money on something btw.

Have you looked at the iTaste VV 3.0 VW it's 800mah or the vision spinner at 1300 mah. I use the vision spinner and its perfect for a mans shirt pocket the ego is longer and sticks out further. I've had the vision last up to two days, I'm guessing that itaste could easily last a day. both are variable voltage so you can get plenty of power.

I think you are talking about a "kick" which is basically a small (voltage or wattage) regulator you use in your mechanical mod to keep the voltage at a desired level and also to act as a fuse in the event of a short or reversed polarity. There are also some button-like devices that you also insert in the tube along with your battery that only protect against shorts, so basically a fuse.

I picked up a matrix s today at the local b&m. I'm sure it will not be my last battery... but it seems better than the others for me so far. (haha that will change soon i'm sure) The only thing i don't like so far is the narrow neck where the button is and i guess it is kinda goofy looking. And still just a tad too long. Yea i'm picky i guess.

That atimozoo looks neat. i will check it out.

While i was at the b&m i looked at two mechanical mods, both cost +/- $200. The one i liked was chrome/stainless colored with a magnetic button, and had like a half moon shape where the bottom button was... i wasn't digging the bottom button and they said it wouldn't work with a 'fuse' or kick or whatever. The other was brass colored and had a springy button, on the bottom again; i guess i don't like bottom buttons. I couldn't pull the trigger on them. Then i noticed the matrix s thingy ( i have no idea who even makes it or anything else about it, i just popped one battery on charger and one in it so far).

You are not leaving a whole lot of room for advice, but if you want a small mod that kicks some ... and leaves room for atty expansion such as Kayfuns and Squapes you would want a VaporShark DNA which contains a DNA 30 chip.

Or you can get a mech capable of using an 18350 where you will not be in VV or VW classification.

I didn't know these existed either, until I discovered them last week on a certain auction site (guess!) here in the UK. I'd come across a reference on this forum so searched the auction site for ego-rs and discovered some with a choice of colours and 900 or 1300mAh batteries included at £6.99 each (post free). I ordered two in black (suits OP!) and 1300mAh that arrived today - they're actually marked as "eGo-Y". The batteries are generic blue label, flat-top but I've tried them with some Trustfire (I know, I know) IMR 14500 700mAh button-tops that I happened to have and they fit ok. One of them didn't appear to work at first, but I gently levered the battery connector up a little and it's fine. Usual 5-click on/off and blue led fire button. Can be charged with normal USB charger or batteries removable for charging (obviously!) which is what I'll probably do to speed things up a bit. Usual disclaimer, I'm not connected with the seller in any way and YMMV, but so far I'm very pleased.

If you leave yourself open to box mods, a Reo mini would be a good choice. That leaves you free to get rebuildable atomizers, and Rob (the manufacturer) is modifying existing drippers for bottom feeding. I researched 18490 batteries heavily and from what I gathered, you can dip down to .8 ohms with an 18490. Not a terrible vape by any means. A .8 ohm single coil on a Reomizer is a pretty good vape. Reomizers are essentially really small drippers, so the decreased volume in the chamber gives you a warmer vape. I use a Reo Grand with a Trident V2 (clone) modded for bottom feeding and it works great.

If pocket space is an issue for you (it certainly was for me), you might reconsider you carrying options. I ditched my wallet and got a phone wallet for my old Galaxy S4, and my present Motorola Droid Maxx. I had my wallet in my front pocket, and now I have a free pocket where my Reo and my keys go.

Any Reo is pretty much indestructible. Milled out of a solid block of aluminum, and if you break any of the parts, you can buy replacements and swap them yourself. It is a mech, and there really isn't much to break in these little things.
