Like most new people, I began with a starter kit. Mine was the one from SmokeTip.
From the knowledge I gained here on ECF, I've progressed forward to using CE carts with KR808D manual batteries. I'm now looking at options for a longer life battery. The KR808D XL batteries are just too long for my taste. I'm now considering a short fat type battery with an adapter if needed, so I can continue using the KR808D carts I've already purchased. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Pigcig and Riva 901 are 901's, not KR808D-1 so you may need an adapter for some KR8 cartos. The 901 has a solid battery end with a slot across it. The orientation of that vs the slot in the pole of many KR8 cartos can give various airflow issues from what I've read elsewhere.

Check Cigeasy.com and ask them if their Elegant Easy really has a KR808D-1 connection?

No - KR808D-1 and 901 have the same threads. They do not have the same structure to the battery poles though auto 901s are close. 901 attys have their own air intake hole on the middle of the side of the atty. KR8 cartos expect to get their air through the battery to carto connection area.

KR808D-1 has an almost flat battery pole with a hole in the middle, even on manuals. And there are air inlets on the side of the threaded part, below the threads. Pigcig has a solid battery pole that looks like the top of a screw - it has a straight canyon running across the middle. What does your manual 901 battery pole look like?

Damn... I stumbled onto this thread and I believe you (Dormouse) cleared a lot up for me! But I want to be sure I have this right:
I have a PigCig which I thought is an 808- but it has the slotted center battery post. So I've been buying all 808 CE2s and cartos. I also have a manual 808 pass-through, with a hole in the center battery post, and no slot. I could never get my cartos from LeCig (PigCig)- that do not have a slot, to work on the passthrough. However, every other 808 carto I have bought (they all have slots) work on the PigCig and the passthrough. I also have an D2 to D1 adapter (because of first purchase / mistake) That adapter (which I bought from LeCig) does not have the slot and will not work on the passthrough either, but works on the PicCig.
So, is it true:
1. all 808 cartos will work on a 901 bat (my PigCig for one)- but no 901 cartos will work on an 808 bat?
2. 808D2 to 808D1 adapter, is actually an 808D2 to 901 adapter?

(I thought I had this figured out, but now my head hurts..!!!)
The reason I need to get this right, is I want to buy a PV with replaceable batteries, that will work with my (true) 808 cartos, CE2s. So it can be a 901 OR 808 battery..(right?).
