Hi, I was looking to get some help or maybe pointed in the right direction. I'll ask my questions first and tell a story below. I'll try to keep them brief.

What's considered the "best" or one of the best menthol flavors out there?

What should I do/get to get exceptionally strong "throat hit" (I think I used that term right. I'm a menthol smoker and this is mainly because of how harsh they are when you inhale. I prefer newports to give you an idea)

And I guess overall, I'm looking for a reliable company that doesn't cost an arm and a leg for replacement parts...which leads me into my story (I'll also try to keep this very brief)

A friend of mine bought me a Luci disposable menthol e-cigarrete and I loved it. Very strong but great flavor, plenty of vapor, felt very sturdy and longer/rounder than a normal cigarette. I was instantly interested in getting the full thing so I bought a luci menthol starter kit. The kit came with a smaller e-cigarette (I'm fine with either size) and menthol cartridges. These taste horrible, and you can't even feel that you're smoking. It just feels like I'm breathing some weird chemical fumes or something. Their disposable one was outstanding but the difference between that one and the one you get in their kit is like night and day.

Please help me out with any information you can offer. I want to learn about all of this so that I can pass the information off to my co workers and family members. e-cigarettes are almost unheard of in my neck of the woods and I'd really like to help shine the light on all of this.

Thank you all for any and all help you can provide :)

Backwoods Brew makes a great menthol.
It comes in L-M-H menthol
& 0 to 24 Nic.

Sounds like your PV just needs better juice. If you like the device, just use it. You paid for it.
Don't just dump the PV because someone else likes a different device better.

Welcome to the forum & congrats on making the switch to vaping!

So it's not really the size of the device, but more about what juice you put in it? I guess the clarify, I'm looking at about 25% flavor and about 75% strength (burning when inhaled) It's all about the burn when it comes to me enjoying a cigarette hehe.

Former pad Kool full smoker here. I feel you, but I'm not smoking anymore, and I'm getting my throat hit. I currently use an eGo with Boge 510 2ohm cartomizers (I hate the hassle of dealing with the atty/cartridge set up)

First, you need power to get a consistant throat hit, so the pv enters into the equation. You will likely end up with a mod, but you can get satisfaction with easily available standard kits while you figure out what are the most important things for your future mod, and try lots of juice. At 3.7 volts (actual output 3.2v), the eGo/Riva delivers a very satisfactory throat hit with the right juice. It delivers enough power and has a long lasting battery charge. The Riva (off-brand eGo) is currently $30 from Liberty Flights, which makes it very cost-effective for a really good first kit. Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Riva 510 (Riva 510 Lite Bundle) If it doesn't show up as $29.99, click on the 20% off icon at the top of the page, or enter ECF at check-out. L-F also has Joye eGo kits for $40.

Now, juice. It depends, and it is trial and error. In general, pg gives throat hit, vg gives vapor. Higher nicotine gives more throat hit. I use a 80pg/20vg 24mg juice. I tried a lot of tobacco flavored menthol juices and they did not work for me. They were not close enough to my Kools, and just made me crave the REAL thing. Interestingly, I found that VaporBomb Fire n Ice (a cinnamon/menthol combo) hit the right notes for me. The sweet cinnamon warms the vapor, and the menthol is cool, harsh and not sweet. I can't explain why it works; it doesn't taste exactly like a Kool, but it FEELS like one.

Hope this helps you with some things to try. Good luck!

I would try BWB high menthol at full nicotine...it burns my nose hairs! Lol!

If you try strong juice in your PV & you still aren't happy, then move on to the more complicated set-ups. If you like your PV's results with a strong juice, why buy anything else, unless you want to chase the bigger & badder...

Welcome and glad to have you here.
The TH, that typically menthol smokers are looking for..comes from a few different factors.
You will need to spend a little time here, doing some research, reading anything you can on menthol,
watch YouTube videos and invest some time to be able to determine what may work for you.

I was a 30 something year menthol smoker. I have bought menthol flavors from over 10 different
vendors. I love some, hate some. The juice that you end up liking, will have to be a trial and error
thing, that YOU experience by trying different ones.
I assure you, that just because someone says THIS is the greatest menthol....does NOT mean it is
the greatest menthol for YOU.
Order from a couple different vendors and order small! This will not be as simple as walking into the
store and getting a pack of your favorite menthol cigs.....BUT...
the benefits of vaping will absolutely make this all worthwhile.
You just gotta invest a little time learning.

You've come to the right place and the right people are here to help you and everyone here is
behind you 100%!!

Wow, awesome advice. This is the kind of thing I was looking for. So I have one question, could you give me what you would order if you were ordering for the first time with what you know now?
I'm totally willing to return everything I can that I already have. I love Kools as well so you and I probably have very similiar tastes. I live about as south as you can get in KY so I'm probably about 3 hours away hehe but yeah, if you could give me something in the form of a small "grocery list" of things you would buy starting out, that would be amazing.

All the help you guys (and gals) have supplied has been great. I really appreciate all of it. Once I learn more about all of this, I hope to become a source of information/advice as well.

Right on Granny!!!
I only smoke menthol on occasion, I didn't mean to infer one brand better than another...I just know that what I suggested was pretty strong!
I've heard Halo makes a good menthol too.

Any idea on the shipping time of that brand? I can still send this stuff back (About $180 total) if there are better...more suited products out there. I'm just afraid of losing that window of opportunity to start over.

All of these vendors ship quickly.

Get the Liberty-Flights Riva kit from the link in my prior post.

This is a 3 piece set up, battery (power), atomizer (fires the juice), cartridge (holds the juice)

When you get it, BLOW OUT the atomizer before you do anything (it comes packed with nasty tasting shipping juice). Put the open end up to your mouth, hold a paper towel at the threaded end and blow until nothing comes out. Then prime with a few drops of juice.

Like I said, I prefer cartomizers (a combination of atomizer and juice cartridge-do not need to be blown out) because I hate dealing with the hassles of refilling cartridges and their uneven performance, and I am too busy to fool with dripping directly onto my atomizer all of the time. The Boge 510 2ohm cartos work great on the eGo, unfortunately Liberty Flights is out of them. I ordered mine from Vapor Kings FIVE (5) Joye 510 compatible e-Cigarette blank low resistance cartomizers (Manufactured by Boge)

It is handy to have a drip tip. Throw a cheap one from Liberty Flights for $1.59 into your Riva order Mods - Drip Tips 510/901 Delrin Drip tip type D

Now juice. If you don't have any, throw a 5ml bottle of juice into your Liberty Flights order just so you have some to start. I haven't ordered juice from LF, but the reviews have been so-so. E Liquid - E Liquid 5ML - PG - Others If you are a pad smoker or above, try 24mg. If you are a light smoker, you probably need 18mg or lower.

Then go ahead and see if the recommended juices already mentioned are available in small amounts (5ml or less) from those vendors. Order some of the most promising ones, and a few off-the-wall things that sound tasty.

I love Vaporbomb Fire n Ice Mutt's Fire n Ice Also try their Arctic Ice Arctic Ice E Liquid (makes a good menthol mixer, too) and CinnaBomb hot cinnamon candy e liquid

That should get you started in a good way. Enjoy and let us know how you are doing.

My husband was always strictly menthol. We have tried many e-liquids between us and I say HANDS DOWN the High Caliber Brand is the BEST! They make a good menthol, but my husband just started vaping the hot cinnimon (like red hots candy, or big red gum) and he mixed some of that with their blue ice flavor...which is like a REALLY STONG clear your sinuses menthol, but almost like a halls. But I have been REALLY happy with all of the High Calliber flavors. And you can get them in either a 50/50 blend or a 70/30 blend (talking about pg/vg) I perfer the 50/50. Alvineciggs has it. GREAT vendor, great prices, FAST shipping!

You'll get a lot of different answers! I'm not a menthol person but I doubt there is one best menthol - probably depends on your PV, what cigarettes you smoked, etc. There are probably a bunch of good but different ones, and a bunch of eh or overpowering ones. Try a few.

Re TH - menthol itself will add TH. Beyond that, try to buy juices with at least 70% PG vs VG, maybe 80%. VG makes nice vapors and adds a smoothness, PG lets the TH through better. Nothing is going to feel exactly like sucking burning smoke with 400 chemicals into your lungs. But it is definitely possible to find a very pleasing experience with enough TH if you get the right PV for you (and that might be something larger than a cigarette), and a juice with decent TH, good technique, etc. I recommend manual batteries to have better control over your hit. That way instead of dragging to warm up the atty, you just press the button a bit early (1/2 to 1 sec) then start dragging and near the end of your drag you let up the button while dragging out the remainder of the vapor.

Some people eventually end up mixing their own menthols by adding a strong menthol ejuice to other ejuice flavors and tobaccos.

Sorry about your friend. There is a whole rip-off upper layer of PV sellers and some sell inferior equipment that probably costs them $10 from China (because ALL cigarette-look ecigs are made by a handful of Chinese companies). They have spiffy mall kiosks or websites and serious "testimonials" and fake review sites etc etc. And they jack the prices up to ridiculous levels, especially for replacement parts. And sometime we here cannot even identify what model someone actually has.

Don't worry - you are in the lower layer now. We buy ecigs as their original model numbers or from reputable rebranders and we pay reasonable prices.

Not every vendor carries every popular model, but some good places to buy ecig hardware are
Cignot
Litecigusa.net
MyPVShop.com (a bit higher price but you can custom pick your startup kit piece colors there)
Liberty-Flights.com
and if you decide on a KR808D-1, a reputable rebrander is Vapor4Life.com

You can get some starter juice probably wherever you end up getting your ecig but you'll probably be buying the rest of your juice elsewhere from the many fine US ejuice blenders. BTW - you can't post in anywhere but new memebrs forum until you have 5 posts and wait an hour, but visit the Eliquid Reviews section of the forum and Search Forum for Menthol for read some reviews. Or do the same in the ELiquid Discussion section (and after you have full posting status you could ask about menthols there too)

It sounds to me like you got hit with the primer fluid they put on new attys for shipping (I guess to keep them from drying out). Have you tried blowing out the atty(s) that came with your Starter Kit? Put a paper towel under the threaded end and blow through the top hole until no more fluid comes out of them. Then prime them with some of your own juice and see if that makes any difference to the flavor.
