I got the kit from 1stopdiyshop with 48mg 50/50 about a month ago. I have gone thru the stickies at the top to make sure I had a good understanding of how to DIY the ejuice.

DL'd multiple ejuice calcs

I felt like a mad scientist and had a good time making different flavors.

Here is the problem, they all suck! I have yet to make one that was tolerable longer than a day. My first attempts were 20% flavor and it was so horrible i chucked them. Tried 15% and almost the same thing. Went to 10% and I could at least vape them with my yuck face on. Made some more last night 5% and the same thing.

My creations are harsh and it feels like I am punching myself in the neck every time I vape. Hardware is simple, Darwin with 510 or Ato-miser. Tons of vapor, crazy amount of throat hit and a karate chop to my gag relex each time.

I have tried using EM, EZ-Sweetz, Stevia, LorAnn flavors (nothing in red on the PDF floating around) FA flavoring.

Where am I going wrong?

Ugh, I hate when that happens...

What does your PG taste like?
Are you using VG? If so, what does it taste like?
(As in vaped straight)

How are you making measurements?

If either your PG or VG vaped straight has no taste, then mix your nic down to a vapable level and try that. What does it taste like.

Seems that there is a common denominator and it isn't flavoring...

It could be the nicotine base. I have been diy since Dec 2010 and had no problems until recently with bad nicotine base. It tasted like .... mixed in plastic. I thought it was my DIY mixes and I switched back to my regular vendor and all is good. It could be the culprit. Considering using Flavourart at 10% and use just a straight flavor and a touch of EM/and or sweetner.

I have tried Gourmet vapor=box elder nicotine, void mist, extremevaping and nicvape. The first three are good...the latter was a bad batch for me. I think the best qualilty is extremevaping(1) then gourmet vapor and or box elder nicotine. (They are the same).

Void mist I won't order even though the nicotine was exceptable. It was not crystal clear. For price and quality it will be gourmet vapor/box elder nicotine pg base.
I know this does not help much. However, if I was just starting out and obtained some bad tasting nicotine I would have thought it was my mixing methods. YMMV and good luck to you.

I will try to vape the PG and VG straight tonight then report back.

I have been cutting the 48mg to 24mg and keeping it 50/50. Forgot to mention that, haha I would prolly slip into a coma vaping 48mg. I do know a person who vaped the 100mg straight to see what would happen, I didn't see him at work for 4 days after.

At first I was using pipettes to measure now I am using the Pipette Pump + Polystyrene Pipette in various sizes.

Thanks for the help!!

Forget about using EM, EZ-Sweetz, Stevia, and LorAnn flavors. Try FlavourArt flavorings instead. You can find the best prices at ecigexpress.com. Also, it's important to let your mixtures sit for a few days, so the flavorings can mix in thoroughly. The taste will be much better after a week or two -- and even better after a month.

Doc,

I'm going through the same frustrations as you! Usually when mine is harsh, I have added too much flavoring. I've gotten bitterness from Stevia/Sucralose also. I try to add liek 1 drop of the sweetener is all because more than a couple drops destroys the whole batch.

Do you like these flavors: irish Cream or Cappacino? If so, Flavourarts "Irish Cream" and " Tiramisu" are extremely good and taste like something you'd buy from a vendor. They are well rounded with many layers of flavors in them and taste like you have mixed several things together and hit the jackpot. For a 1 flavor juice- they are truly amazing.

Other 1 flavor juices that tasted like bought juices were: Vapor Renu's "Big Red Gum" and Perfumer's Apprentice's "Toasted Marshmallow" and "BubbleGum". FlavourArts " Tutti Frutti" and "Pandora" and "Forest Fruit" also make nice one flavor juices.

I keep trying to make recipe juices and no matter what I mix, nothing tastes like a good cookie or a good dessert:( But those 1 flavor juices I mentioned above taste awesome on their own!

I got small sample sizes of those FA flavorings for $1.50 from PureVapes website. I like to buy little bottles for experimanting:)

Tested the PG and VG straight, the PG smelled and tasted a little funny. Made 10ml with a different Nic and PG bottle than previous batches. Vaped a little bit and it seems marginally better.

I will let it steep for a couple days and see what happens, My throat is pretty raw from the other stuff so maybe there is a big difference and I can't tell yet.

Thanks for all the advice,

~ AA
