ok well I will start off by introducing myself. I am a 28yr old "heavy" smoker I use the term loosely because as I only smoke an average a pack a day but sometime more I also prefer strong cigarettes like Marlboro currently I am rolling my own to save money but I want a healthier alternative for me and my wife we have a son on the way and would like to be healthy for my child and with having my son on the way I do not have a lot of money to be spending on PVs and mods I have read through a ton of forum topics and the post that accompany them and there is just to much info to go through to find a good starting point with out spending to much money. now with that said I have had some experience with some PVs I bought a 3 piece from BLU about 2 yrs ago and I like it but it was not an alternative it was very weak and did not produce much vapor so I gave up on the idea as I did not have the money to get another but now my dad just recently got a encore starter kit from the local smoke shop and I do like his it has good I would not say great but good vapor and a decent throat hit if not a bit harsh or dry now I have done a lot research so far and I know I want something that a good battery so I don't have to charge as often and I would like something I don't have to fill often either or swap cartos out all the time and a big variable is price now I will say this I do not need something that looks like a real cigarette as I like to smoke it does not matter what it looks like. i also seen a tank setup at volcano but don't know how well they work i think i would like a tank as you don't need to fill often please someone help me find a decent starter kit for lets say under $100 thank you all for reading this long post

Blu is one of the worse models on the market but heavily advertized unfortunately.

Being a heavy smoker, at a minimum, you will want a model with at least a 700+ mAh battery. That would put you in the eGo class and size. But there are better models than the ego in that class for a beginner. First, stick with manual batteries for better control, warmer vapor and safer. Three good beginner models are: E-Power 510, Kgo and Riva. They have better batteries than the ego but are no bigger in size. Here are some good suppliers:

Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - EGO E-Power

KGO kit 1100mAh by SLB

You might even want to consider the 5 volt E-Power which will give you warmer vapor and better throat hit. And start out with eliquid in the 24mg range.

Good Luck

Everyone has their own preference in a PV. I will tell you about mine. I purchased the ego-T and have never had any issues with it. I paid $ 65.00 for the kit and the nic juice.

Went from smoking 2 ppd Marlboro to not touching another since the purchase. I do Vape a lot and have reduced the nic to 13 in less than 3 months.

Good luck and really hope you can stop the analogs soon...

KGO Mega Dual Coil Kit | Sweet-Vapes E-Liquid

1100mAh battery for less charging, high capacity high performance cartomizers for less (and easy) refilling and tons of vapor, and a very reasonable price. Plus sweet-vapes juice is downright awesome.
I'm not much for 'filler' type cartos, but that looks like a good start @ a decent price. Don't forget to order some juice!

thank you all for your info i will look into the kgo mega dual in the mean time what do you guys think of this Ego Dual Coil Cartomizer Tank Kit

Nothing functionally wrong with that and it'll work just as well as what I suggested. I have 3 tiny nitpicks though which is why I don't use them. 1. The tank is larger in diameter than the battery and is an aesthetics turn off for me. 2. The clear poly is more prone to breaking than metal. 3. I found them annoying since the tank is not secured tightly to the punched carto.

Absolutely. The vast majority of hardware you find will be 510 connection. The kGo is 510 as are the tanks you mentioned. If you wanted to pick up a tank to try, it would fit on the kGo as long as it specifies 510. And since it doesn't say it, I'll let you know that the volcano tank is 510.

Yes, you can buy a tank that will work with your KGO.

- A KGO is a 510.
- An atty is an atomizer, which you use to drip on for testing flavors - or for all-around vaping. Personally I hate them and they drive me nuts but you can make your own decision.
- A carto is a cartomizer, which is an atomizer & cartridge in one piece. You just fill it, screw it on to your ecig, and vape.

Hope this helps.

You can use any tank, cartomizer or atomizer with the Kgo or E-Power since the battery is strong enough in that category and they are both 510's. But even if you found a tank/carto/atty that was not a 510 that you wanted to try (801, 808, 910), you can still use them by adding a $3 adapter. You would not be able to do that with a mini battery model because the batteries are not strong enough to handle a wide range of heating elements.

Both the E-Power and Kgo come with 1000+ mAh batteries unlike the smaller ego battery.

Hey Dam - I started out with a Riva mega tank system. It was good and handled most juices pretty well without getting fouled. I think anything in that style would serve you well starting out. I switched to a bottom feeder (Reo Grande) to carry less stuff around. They are well made units. Good luck and congrats on the decision to try ecigs. I smoked for 25 years and have had no desire for analogs since I got my first ecig. Now I'm that anti-smoking guy! (it really is poison).

Best of luck!!

There are big differences in eliquid but it is all subjective. It is really all trial and error. I really like Janty and they have been on the market longer than anyone but DeKang. But there are hundreds of mom and pop makers, now, also.

For example, one of the most popular flavors is RY4. Janty and/or Dekang created this flavor. But just about every supplier trys to duplicate it. Here is a post from a ECF Vet who categorized different suppliers RY4 flavor. He did a pretty good job, also. But this gives you an idea of how many suppliers alone make this one flavor, and they are all wildly different:

I believe the 555 term is actually a reference to a physical tobacco, although I can't swear to that. RY4 started as a name of a particular vendor's juice, and then a lot of people started replicating it, I think, or so I read somewhere around here (darned if I know where I read it, but it was on ECF somewhere).

The RY series is most known for RY4, which is a blend of tobacco/vanilla/caramel flavors and is a bit on the sweet side (but is also incredibly popular). RY3 is less sweet, RY2 even less so, and so on.
