hey guys

havent posted in a while cuz i fell off the wagon :( due to bad batteries

i ordered a couple of batts from v4l a few months ago and got a couple of duds (Which were replaced by v4l of course, their customer service is great) but i found generic non-v4l batts to be comparable to the regular v4l at lower prices, which was surprised to me cuz i was told that v4l quality and products were superior.

needless to say, i wanna try to quit analogs altogether like i did when i got my first v4l starter kit. i havent been around the forums much or in the loop so im not sure whats out there.

i saw v4l had the zeus and DAV which are very expensive but look to be non-generic and finally true proprietary v4l products. im intrigued with the dial a volt because it seems to have a very long life and i think its a nice feature to adjust the voltage, and the zeus' appeal to me is the battery life and quality.

i wanted to get a really good battery with great performance and quality, not just a generic chinese brand, but since v4l batteries turned out to be practically the same as generic chinese with their bottom level series when i was told they were much better, which wasnt the case, i dont know if i want to spend the money at v4l, cuz its $40+ for one battery now, to have the same realization happen.

of course, if the dial a volt and zeus are that good and worth the money, ill gladly get one, but id like to hear feedback first and also hear some other suggestions. also does the dial a volt and zeus battery work with the old wall plug chargers from the v4l starter kits or do you need a new charger for them? is the dial a volt automatic sealed so that liquid dripping into the battery wont be a problem?

any help would be great

i really wanna quit smokin altogether like i did when i first got my starter kit. please help me out

thanks a lot guys

Yellow (sir or Ms.?) you'll find a lot of positive reviews on both the Zeus and DAV here. Both auto versions feature a sealed post, but keep in mind that doesn't mean it's 100% leak proof, no sealed battery is. Which wall charger do you have, the slim line or the one with a cord? If it's the corded one yes you'll need a different charger....

hey yellow, thanks for reaching out to us. I'm BHam and I don't think we've met here on ECF, so nice to "meet" you.

I'm sorry to hear that your first experience with us was less than stellar. We stand behind our product and I want you to know that if you decide to go with us, I will make sure your experience gets to the point of stellar and beyond.

Glad to see you've been looking at the DAVs and the Zeus. Both are great batts, but I'll let the voice of the community sway you. Hey, everyone I talk to here loves either one, and I vape on my DAVs pretty much everyday :). Just to speak to the quality of the both the DAV and the Zeus, Smilin spent over 3 years developing both on dozens of trips back and forth to China. Yes they were made there, but in our own V4L owned factories. Smilin didn't BS with quality. He tried hundreds of different molds and he didn't start producing until they were up to HIS STANDARDS!!! I had to CAPS to just emphasize how much work Smilin put into both these batts. Both have the proprietary chipsets in them to ensure a consistent and steady vape at 5V (for the Zeus) and 3.2-4.8V (for the DAV) so whatever you want to vape, and HOW you want to vape it, it will be the best vape you'll have, I guarantee.

I really think you'd enjoy the DAV. Not to say the Vapor Zeus is a bad option, by no means is it. I just say the DAV since you've "been out the vaping game" for awhile, it would be nice to use a batt that has an adjustable voltage to ensure you find your sweet spot as you ease back into vaping. The DAV also comes in a full automatic version too! The World's First auto VV batt really is AWESOME! It got me to use autos again and since you want to jump back in, I think the auto DAVs would be a great fit for you. If you go with the kit, it'll come with a Slim Charger. The Slim Charger is our new "Apple-esque" charger which is what all of our batteries currently charge with. The Slim Charger has protection built in to avoid overcharging so I would definitely recommend using that instead of any old V4L charger. Oh and these batts are sealed so you don't need to worry about juice killing it. Trust me. I've gotten juice all over my DAV post and I've NEVER had an issue. I just wipe the threads down to make sure I don't short out the batt or charger. If you want more info, just send me an email at brandon@vapor4life.com.

I'll let the rest of the V4L Family chime in ;).

hi bham. dont get me wrong. ive ordered from v4l about 5 times and spent about $30-100 each time, and aside from one or two batteries from another supplier, i love your juice flavors and ive ordered many. my favorite product is your wow carts/juice, particularly blueberry and kamel/oasis. the batteries dying on me however have not been appreciated, and i bought about 6 batts from v4l. im just looking for a really good quality battery this time, and you say the DAV is what im looking for? im definitely interested as i still have 10+ wow carts and 2 bottles of juice id like to continue to use the 2 part system of the kr8.

thanks for the great reply bham.

There's a whole list of suppliers on the main page, do some looking around, you will probably find something you like better that's more affordable.

hey bardic, thanks for the replies, and i saw the supplier list (im not new to the forum in other words ;) ), but its been months since i bought any supplies so i dont know much about NEW products, so i dont know who to check, you know. but i DO appreciate your help, PM me if ud like ;)

THANKS everyone

Well, BHam took care of everything and I am giving V4L another shot and I hope they come through for me this time, but it sounds like Im getting some great, quality products and a great deal. I am very excited to try the new V4L products and I will let you know how it goes.

Once again, V4L great customer service won me over and I am very pleased to have ordered with them because of that. That is one thing that is certain, they have the best service around.

Thanks BHam

Glad they're taking care of you. I have both Dial A Volts and Zeus. If
I was put in a room and forced to pick just one to use - I would have to pick
the Zeus. The passthru feature and faster charger it has are all big points
for me. And it performs very very well. Let us know how you like your new stuff!

the PT is really cool, but i think 5 volts is a bit too high for me since im used to the vapor king batts.

how much faster is the charge? i ordered the 900mah/medium DAV, what are you using and how long does it charge?

and yes i will let u guys know for sure! thx

If you like using your WOW carts, I would choose the Dial-A-Volt because you can turn down the voltage for those carts. If you use the Vapor Zeus with the WOW carts, they will burn quickly because of the higher voltage

^ exactly why i wanted the dial a volt. i have a lotta carts and i wanna stick with carts cuz i also use the regular batts, and i thought the zeus would fry the carts quickly. i reuse my carts, as in i refill them with e-liquid, i dont just use em once and toss em. plus, my lady doesnt like too hard of a TH, lol that sounds funny sorry ladies lol. so i think the DAV is exactly what we wanted, she can adjust it for low vapor and i can put it up higher.

speaking of which, what voltage should i set for the DAV so as not to burn the WOW carts? and what volt is best for the smileomizers and the tank carts?

thanks!

The DAV and zeus are both great batteries, I have both, I do prefer the zeus, but been vaping a while and like a stronger vape and like the faster charging with pass through with the zeus, but of course with the zeus you are stuck at 5 volts, which ever you have chosen, sure you won't be disappointed :)

thank you...also, please let me know your take on the questions i just asked mccol

I have the 900mah medium DAV and off the slim wall charger it takes.........close to
12 hours I think.

I have the small zeus (650 I think?) and it takes 2 hours to charge with either the usb or
the black charger specifically for the zeus. Many hours on the slim wall charger, I don't think
I ever fully charged it on the slim, just gave up after so many hours and charged it another way.

Yes the charging between the zeus and DAV is night and day, I have the 1100mah DAV and I never let it run completely down, but mine it takes as long to charge as the amount of time I used it, so if used for 9 hours, will take about the same to charge. It is best to have 2 DAV's, so you always got a spare while the other is charging, and should always have a back up in any battery anyway ;)

As said before I normally have my zeus plugged in most of the time, but I did test it when first got, I have the 900mah zeus and from completely dead to full charge took less than 3 hours, and of course the really big advantage of the zeus compared to the DAV, is you can still use the zeus while charging. But some could find the 5 volts to much vaping all the time, I started on DAV's and then moved up to the zeus.

As for smileo's and tanks, you can use them all the way up to the 4.8 volts, used both on my DAV set at the top range.

ALoha and please "Be KIND" to yourself!! First and foremost: Pat yourself on the back. i kept smoking almost 3 years after I was vaping.
I think you touched my heart since for :2c: me=-it was all about the Batteries.
So long as i always had a PV option next to me, I was good. The first time it needed charging; hit dry; or I "couldnt find it" in under 30 seconds- I'd buy analogues. LOL!..Finally I figured out my Vape budget; found a 100% trustworthy vendor; bought 3 complete set ups with the commitment to make sure I always, always ALWAYS had 2 of them with me. When they arrived...out went the analogues FOR goOD! My choice was to stay away from anything that could easily break; run out of juice or charge. the second issue I faced was getting enough nicotine to satisfy any craving. I bought 3 OEM eGo Brand 1000 mah Pass Through Batteries with 3 or 4 EVOD BCC metal cartomizers, maybe a couple hundred mls of juices in 10 cc bottles at 12mg 18mg and 24mg nicotine strengths. i needed to be sure I wasnt going to "crave" any stinky smoke. I learned which stregnth & flavors' really worked.
these choices are as personal as the brand and type of cigarette you smoke.
your choice; you came to the right place. Keep in mind though there's as much variety here as there is in taste choice, budget nico need.
    i dont ever miss analogues.

wow! thats quite a significant difference. very odd i think. and i have the starter kits slim charger...oh well, luckily i never was a heavy smoker (nor vaper) so it should last me all day and then ill throw on the slim overnight, and ill have some titan classic stick batts if needed. thank you for the info :)

yeah, 5 volts is too much for me since ive only used the regular stick batts and they even get me to cough sometimes, and forget about the mrs, 4.8 is more than enough. i wonder why the zeus and dav batts are so different considering they are both "high end" models from v4l, actually id think the dav would be less of a charge since its a lower wattage.

is it ok to not discharge the dav batt fully before recharging or is it best to let it totally die and then throw on the charger? and also does the same charging apply to the titan (as in fully discharge before recharge?)....so i can improve/extend the batt life?

hi...ill try to be kind to myself :) thats why im coming back full force to V4L. the vapor king batts really had me down man, but i said i really wanna quit smoking, i have a lot of carts and juice, let me see whats going on with v4l and see if they got anything new going on and luckily they did. honestly i wanted a zeus cuz it looks very serious, but the mrs wouldnt like it at all, and furthermore it was double the DAV cost.however im glad to have the option.

just so u know ipster, i started vaping in feb 2011, so this is my 2.5 years with it, i bought every single flavor v4l had last year with all the carto sampler packs. i found i LOVED the tobacco (esp. wowboy, kamel/oasis, and a few others like kant, which i think is gone) and i loved the fruit flavors (razzwow is the best in my opinion, and its my ladys favorite by farrr), but i couldnt stand the dessert, beverage, menthol and coffee was the worst. then i tried different nic strengths when i found the flavors i liked, and for fruits i liked a lil lower (11-18) but tobaccos i liked more (18-24), but mostly 18. i can enjoy 8mg as well, but anything lower doesnt have a nic fix like u mentioned lol

so yeah, i mean i started with v4l cuz i also had criteria for an e-cig i wanted to meet, and i think things have changed a bit since i researched it. back then, i wanted the "2 piece" system, which only the kr808 had (versus the 3-5 part systems with atomizers etc). i wanted something compact as well, and something fairly universal so that i could try different companies products. again, at that time, the clear choice was V4L, and since they also had the most variety in cart flavors, i wanted to really give vaping a shot. i was so pleased with my inital experience that i quit anaologs altogether and vaped for a couple months, but when my battery died and i ordered more only to get a few duds, i started getting frustrated. thats when i ordered a cheap generic to hold me over till i could make an order with v4l, which as you probably know from experience, you usually order a bunch of stuff cuz of shipping lol

so i had all these carts and a cheap kr8 batt that outperformed the vapor king, but i needed carts and juice, so i finally made my order with v4l and again, vapor king batts doa...so i got frustrated especially cuz the generic didnt last long, so i thought to myself, this is expensive for very inconsistent and unpredictable results in what i received so i said forget about it cuz i only smoke 3-5 cigs a day...got myself a pack of tar block filters and just kept puffin until today!!!

i said im gonna do this right, and im gonna get the best batt there is...and i hope(think) i did lol :)

only thing is, now there are ALOT of 2 part systems (the 501) that werent there before. what other 2 part systems like the kr8 are out there? i just want to learn more about good products, obviously i made a new order today with v4l and i hope to continue to stick with them as ive spent hundreds already on them, but i want to know what other batt+cart systems are out there that are as good or close?? can you please tell me your experience?

    thanks for the support ipster

That makes sense Yellow sir. Had me confused, when most people say a few months back they mean 2-3. :)

np man. yeah few to me means more than the norm i guess lol. you have a great blog/review btw.

Also, if you guys dont mind, what are your experiences with the life of these products*, that is if you have them? the titan battery, the dav battery, the 808 carts, the tank (is it a cartomizer?), and the smileomizer? if you dont know or dont want to bother answering for whatever reason, thats fine. you guys have helped a lot so thank you already :) have a great night

*[how long is the life of the following:
    1) how long does the dav last before the batts totally dead and wont charge anymore?
    2) " " (same question) for the titan batt?
    3) how long does an 808 cart last before you cant refill the juice anymore and/or the coils are dead? how many refills?
    4) how many times can you refill the tank(/cart?...not really sure how this works)?
    5) how many times can you refill the smileomizer?]

    No problem Yellow sir. :)

    1) how long does the dav last before the batts totally dead and wont charge anymore?

Still testing, but one with the most charges thus far has 276 and still performing within 90% of it's original use time. That's of course with a slim line charger and avoiding deep cycling.

    2) " " (same question) for the titan batt?

Depends on the charger, charging method, how you use it. With deep cycling and use of the usb charger 190-230 charges. With the slim line and no deep cycling 350-400 times.

    3) how long does an 808 cart last before you cant refill the juice anymore and/or the coils are dead? how many refills?

Depends on the juice. Higher vg, menthols, coffees, and cinnamon will wear out a carto faster than a sweet, straight tobacco, or fruity flavor. With new menthol wow 6-8 refills before they need cleaning. Wowboy 7-9. Wowboy vg 3-5. Traditional tobacco 8-10.

    4) how many times can you refill the tank(/cart?...not really sure how this works)?

Tank as many times until it breaks, chrome finish corrodes, o-rings wear out and you don't want to replace them yourself. As for the carto, see above. Usually get 30-36ml's through a single 1.5ohm dc carto with new menthol wow.

    5) how many times can you refill the smileomizer?

See number 3 again good sir. With new menthol wow usually get 7-8 refills before a cleaning is needed.

    Hope this helps. :)

yes sir, that certainly helps a lot; thanks morandir :) but forgive me for not knowing, what is deep cycling and how do you avoid it?

you know i was reading some of your very informative posts and it occured to me from what you wrote in a few different areas that the DAV is kinda a new ballgame compared to the titan/king batts.

is there a faq or something that can give me tips for increasing the longevity and how to properly use it. for example, what volt should you not use it on carts as opposed to tanks/smilomizers because it might burn the coil or something? also, you mentioned cleaning everything as well, and im sure there is a post for the different products, i now will own the auto DAV, titan batts, 808 carts, smileozmiser and tanks, so i should probably know the best ways to clean, maintain, and keep them working optimally. i dont want you or anyone to spend too much time to take the trouble of linking me, but if you have any recommendations, especially on the DAV and carts, and maintenance cleaning, please update me or something

i want to thank you for taking the time to share and help the vape community, very nice of you

    thanks pal

    Aloha Yellow.
Well you were surrounded by vape4life here quickly;(LOL) as you said theres Customer service and that is what you've been paying for.
ECF is a global community-the largest Vape group on planet earth=so PLEASE take some time to noodle around the Info Zone; Best e-cigarette; the Guides E-cigarette guides Archives - ECF InfoZone; The Reviews E-Cigarette Product Reviews; and models Model Specific Discussion. Yes they have a KR808D Forum! You'll find ALL Major Models and Brands there for this international community. Vape4Life has developed its own "lingo" that is company specific, so I needed to watch a video to learn thier lingo. I know your not alone by any means..the majority of vapors started on Pen style and/or KR808 or eGo510 models. It is a smaller number who'll be familiar with the companies own names (ie: "Zeus" for eGo Twist with KR808D fitting vs.510-a unique proprietary item to the company).
I watched the PBusardo review PBusardo's Vaping Reviews - YouTube as hes so well known here in the ECF-US community. I visited the vape4life website after the video, to verify the numbers I heard. (Man, they're NOT cheap!) Wow!
This is not necessarily a criticism, (unless Im part of same..since I own ProVaris; Phiniacs; Kir Francis) But no Doubt they're reselling common enough products. its a kind of White Box/Brown Box thing, eh? Have you been to Fasttech? 3051 Electronic Cigarettes at FastTech - Worldwide Free ShippingThe UK portion of the forum makes prevelant use of them, in USA Forum -the resellers may use them often or more often than members. I say this only because there seems to be a ''ladder' all vapors progress up over time as we quit smoking and continue vaping. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/465379-your-vaping-device-ladder.html. I realized today that the whole time I was with KR808 or Pen/mini style ecigs I was still smoking as a heavy smoker! I needed to come here, learn more and go up to the mid 510 battery style/manual pass through with back ups, better eJuices, and more "th" & vapor Forum Glossary - ECF InfoZone before I could say goodnight Irene to Analogues! LOL!! Along the ladder, we've all outgrown models, vendors, and still we're all in the same community here!
I say this with only support and good intentions for your Vaping success, so I hope nothing seems too offensive, (If it is on my brain its going to come out my mouth) :) btw You tube was helpful also. I saved a lot of brass ($) the first few months after quitting smoking!
ThAT IS THE GOAL! Get you off the Stinkies! If itd been me (it was another vendor though) and I was paying those prices and getting DOA products Id been gone before I could blink. Im funny when it comes to quality; I wont buy generics I would rather over pay for OEM or hand crafted high level craftsmanship. Once Ive paid though I balk when the seller wants to tell me what i can and cant do. LOL! (Fortunately, any product failure in past 5 years has been due to my fault ) So far Ive not had any items fail (I dont buy from fasttech either but Im aware of the international & generic brands they carry and how much they sell for) Information is power!:2c:
