I don't know anything about batteries and all those letters and numbers give me a headache.
Here is what I use in my madvapes VV box that hubby made. (it uses 2 of these)

Protected UltraFire 14500 AA sized 3.6V Li-Ion Rechargeable Battery 900 mAh CR14500 Lithium Ion

I can't use 2.0 omh cartos cause it hits the protection or something (dunno, Hubby said)
they work great and as a heavy vaper last me about 18 hours on about 5.2V setting and have never failed on a regular (standard) 3 omh carto.

another member this morning posted a link to these and I ordered for back-up.
(He said it takes about 10 days to get them)

4xAA TrustFire 14500 3.7V 900mAh Protect Li-ion Battery | eBay

Al lI know is what works for me. I hope that helped you.

AW IMR batteries deliver peak performance through out there entire charge. So you will get 4.2 volts at all times until right before there dead. Protected batteries perform differently. As soon as there off the charger and are being used the life will slowly decline till the batteries charge is gone. So protected batteries would start off right off the charger at 4.2 volts and maybe a hour or two into them drop down to 3.8volts and then right before they die they will be down to 3.7 volts. So AW IMR's have a better performance record. I use the trustfire 14500 and trustfire 18650's and there not bad. I don't notice to much of a difference till its towards the end of the charge.

I bought a couple of AW 18350's and what a difference it makes..Thanks for the Tip!!
It really depends on the application. You are stacking batteries, yes.. but capacities do not add. Max discharge rate on a trustfire 900mAh is 1.5C

The madvapes VV box uses a linear regulator.. there are so many people on this board that know this stuff so much better than me but I believe a linear regulator requires more current IN than current OUT.. so, if you're going to be trying things like a dual coil carto at 5v, low res stuff at high(er) voltages, or anything that is going to need a lot of current (amps).. you probably want to go with the IMR as the current draw exceeds the trustfire's max discharge rate (I do not think this adds in a series, because capacity does not.. but I really have a very loose understanding of this here) so the IMR will give you better performance, or allow you to go higher in voltages before the regulator drops out (due to undervolt prot and overworked regular lico batteries).. I THINK The IMRs have noticeably LESS capacity than the AW IC 14500's and regular trustfire/ultrafire 14500s. IMR's are supposedly 'safer' chemistry and aren't supposed to be able to fuel their own demise (contain or produce o2, i guess), but there have been many cases of IMRs flaming/venting, just not as many as LiCo) They are 'high-drain' and allow much more current to be discharged from them over a given period of time. This is why they are great for high-voltage low resistance applications (Dual/triple coils, or people who are crazy like me and run 2.0ohm @ 5v :p )

Otherwise I'd go with AW IC 14500 LiCo cells, these have been the best performing in my evercool VV box (switching regulator though) don't mind the 750mAh rating, trustfire/ultrafire WAY overstate their ratings.. AW LiCo cells easily have more capacity in my experience than any trustfire/ultrafire of the same size... I have a total of 8 trustfire 14500's (flamejackets) now.. problem is they are all counterfeit.. and I believe a large portion of ALL flamejacket 14500s out there in the last couple months are counterfeit.. and the problem with every single set of these counterfeits are is that they are two different batteries (one 750mAh and one 800mAh) being sold as a shrinkwrapped set. The blue ones are probably good to go, it's those flamejackets.. purchased from 3 different vendors now (but they all pulled them immediately.. good stuff)

You can get the AW LiCo 14500's here AW IC 14500 Power Batteries

If you do want to go with a cheaper alternative, which do work out pretty well most of the time.. you can get protected UltraFire 14500s at Clouds of Vapor as well Ultrafire LC14500 Protected Rechargeable Lithium Battery

Bit pricey, but damn good batteries.
