I want to try the drip method, but I ordered autos, I really want to try 5v, but I don't want to spend a huge amount of money. I was thinking about getting either a 5v passthrough, or an ego battery, since I already have a decent amount of 510 stuff. I was looking on vapor kings and I came across this. ego usb passthrough. Should I get that? or a regular 5v passthrough, they have one there or just a regular ego battery and charger. Also I remember seeing something about a 5v mod for the ego battery. Is that easy and or safe to do?

Well...
If you want to drip, you need non-auto battery. Or, you can use a cartomizers and carefully drip in cartomizer.
If you want 5V, you need a 5V device. Or you can use Low Resistance atty/cartomizer - they simulate high voltage.

When u are saying you have lots of 510 stuff, does it include LR Atomizers or LR Cartomizers?
I guess not, because you can't use LR stuff on small 510 batteries.

The best thing you can do, IMO, just wait for $29.99 Riva. You will get 2 batteries 1 regular and 1 LR atomizer - all you need for your experiments. Drip tips are under $2.

If you going to buy LR cartomizers, try to get ones with 2ohm resistance, everything under 2ohm will boil juice.

eGo has a 6 month warranty. They dont state a warranty for the riva on their site. They are also Sold out on that 29.99 deal but say they are getting more and will be the same price. From everything i have heard most people are really happy with the Riva. I almost bought one of those kits when they were in stock. I have a Genuine eGo right now but wouldnt hesitate to buy a Riva with all the good reviews i have heard. If your in a hurry that same site offers the Genuine Joye Tech eGo's for 20 bucks more. So if your worried about warranty or want one right away they have those.

Thanks for the tip on the Riva, looks like an ego to me, but cheaper. Unless somebody has a good reason why the eGo is better.

I have Riva from LF (they offer 3 months warranty) and Joye Ego.
It's pretty much same device made by different companies: Riva by HelloTech and Ego by JoyeTech (be careful with Egos - there are lots of knock offs out there, I wouldn't buy it unless it says "Joye")

I can't say difference on a long run, but at this point I see only 3 noticeable differences:
1. Metal parts finish on Riva is "gold" and on Ego is "silver"
2. Manual button on Riva is soft rubber (feels better) and Ego is hard plastic.
3. Body finish on Ego feels more like rubber, Ego body finish feels a bit better.
