I was hoping that experienced vapers could chime in with good disarming phrases to use when people are offended when you vape near them. Because I'm so new I find myself bumbling with an explanation that it isn't smoke it's just vapor. Well, what is vapor??? It can't be just water? Vapers are inhaling PG/VG and flavoring at the very least... are there sources that I can cite that will explain what the "vapor" really is???

remember the liquid also contains nicotine, which the body instantaneously takes in upon inhale so all you really are blowing out is water vapour.

My work colleagues laugh at me as my setup looks kind of like a .... xD i then remind them out the fact that the cigarette they are chonging on contains over 4000 chemicals which cause your innards to mutate whilst my e liquid contains nothing of the sort.

The main ingredients in e-liquid are pg and vg (propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin), which are humectants; they both draw water from whatever they come into contact with. They actually pull water from our bodies when we vape, hence why we veterans advise noobs to drink PLENTY of water. So yes, there is water vapor (a gas) in our exhaled vapor. Studies have shown no detectable or appreciable amounts of nicotine in the surrounding area where vapors are.

I had to change doctors recently and a Physicians Assisstant was doing the new patient assessment. This is our conversation pertaining to smoking:

PA: Do you smoke?
Me: No
PA Have you ever smoked?
Me: Yes
PA: So you are an ex-smoker.
Me: No, I am a vaper
PA: Do you use nicotine?
Me: Yes
PA: So you are a smoker.
Me: No m'am. I am a vaper. Nothing is burning, there is no ash, there is only water vapor expelled.
PA: So you are a non smoker.
Me: For your purposes. yes

Thanx for that... I actually buy the juice that doesn't contain nicotine, so I'm taking in even less. ;)

I've not used "the B-word" here as we're not supposed to make those sorts of references, but that's what I call my mods. Coming from that culture during the 70s and 80s it just seems more fitting for some reason.

Sorry, off topic.

When I first presented vaping to my boss I just explained to him how it all works. He doesn't seem to have any problem at all differentiating vaping and smoking. I can vape in the shop, and on occasion he'll ask me how long it's been since I've smoked. Kinda cool considering he's 71-years-old and a huge technophobe.

I've only done the whole, "It's not smoke; it's just water vapor." routine so far. I've just not been confronted with it much at all.
