I used e-cigs from 2010-2019. This was before mesh coils had hit the mainstream. I know they existed but they were relatively new. I quit for 2 years. Since coming back it seems like mesh coils are now the only option. I have struggled with the mesh coils now for over a year. I’m here looking for normal round wire coil options. Generally I prefer sub-ohm tanks, are there any on the market currently that don’t require mesh coils? The market has just grown so much, I used to keep up with all the cool new things that came out but now I have no idea what is even available.

Mesh Coils are absolutely not the only option. There's still lots of round wire coil options out there - Everything is getting harder to get. Some of the better Brick and Mortar shops still sell RDAs and RTAs. If you cultivate a relationship with one, they may be willing to order something for you. Otherwise, you'll pretty much need to order from China. There are a few online stores in the US that are still managing to ship, either through the USPS with signature for delivery, or through alternate shippers. Google what you are looking for. You'll get lots of hits.
Sounds like you need to get caught up on your reading on this forum.

Sure there is...a good selection of them, too. Here's just a little info. on 3 of them: One of my friends loves the GeekVape Cerberus sub-ohm tanks, and there are many different coils, even by different brands [GeekVape, Eleaf, SMOK, etc.] that are compatible with the tank. Another friend and her husband love the Vaporesso NRG and NRG-S sub-ohm tanks. Same thing, as far as there being many different coils that are compatible with those 2 also. There are definitely other sub-ohm tanks, too, that don't use only mesh coils. Those are just 3 I'm familiar with.

There are actually quite a few reputable US vendors who are still selling and shipping vaping gear and supplies. Some of them are: KangerWholesaleUSA.com [they sell to retail buyers as well as wholesale to vendors], CentralVapors.com [linked below, has the best price for the Vaporesso NRG-S tanks in the US - $15.99], Ejuices.com, VaporAuthority.com, DirectVapor.com, MyVaporStore.com, Breazy.com, EcigMafia.com, VapeSourcing.com [a vendor in China, but they have a US Warehouse, too], InnokinStore.com [they ship from a US location they have, too], and many others. I've purchased from 5 of the above, in just the last couple months, and I've gotten good-great delivery time from all 5.

In case you want to check out the Vaporesso NRG-S tank at Central Vapors:
VAPORESSO NRG-S Sub Ohm Tank - available in a lot of colors

Coils for them:
VAPORESSO GT Replacement Coils - There are 5 different GT coils to choose from, that aren't mesh. A few friends like the GT2 - 0.4ohm and the GT Cell-2 0.3ohm coils. Again though, there are other brands of coils that are compatible with the tank.

Not every vendor ships to all 50 states, but if they don't...there will usually be a notification posted of which states they can and cannot ship to.

Check out Blotto and Hellvape Fat Rabbit (some single coil, some dual coil).

There are a ton on element vape (some single coils, so not necessarily sub ohm), and check out reviews. I've discovered I like the post-less deck, because I am new to rebuild.

This is presuming you build your own coils. If not, I enjoy the mesh pre built coils, and know how to clean them.

What's wrong with mesh coils? Been using them myself for a couple years now and absolutely love em. Yeah there's gonna come a time when they might not be available anymore and I'm prepared for that but in the meantime, mesh coils rock.

Apparently the way I vape doesn’t jive with mesh coils. I’m not sure if it is long drags or “chain vaping” or what exactly is causing them to taste burnt. I haven’t had a single coil last for more than 3-5 days at the very most. I used to have regular wire coils that would last for weeks. Rarely ever got a burnt taste unless I accidentally ran one dry. I remember changing out coils because they just simply lost all taste, now I’m swapping coils every few days that taste like burnt death. It just isn’t working out for me.

I feel your pain. None of my local shops that I've visited recently has ANYTHING rebuildable and it is rare to find anything with a replaceable battery. <sigh>

While many swear by the virtues of different and sometimes what might only be described as exotic coil types personally I've found that 6-8 spaced wraps of single strand round wire to work just fine for my needs.

As others have mentioned, there are a few vendors still selling/shipping and if all else fails, ordering something to be put on a very slow boat from China is always a option.
