Ok, thanks for all the help here. I ordered the kit from TW, and though I am more than a little nervous, I am hoping for nothing but positives...

So, here goes!!!!

Corley, if the battery they ship to you is over 2000mah, please verify with them that it is an IMR for sure. There have been some unprotected Lithium-Cobalt batteries shipped by the wholesaler to at least one vendor and, as far as I have been able to tell, it's questionable whether there is such a thing as an IMR over 2000mah.

A rep. from another vendor, that shall remain nameless, brought this to my attention. His company was defrauded by the wholesaler/mfg. in the same way. Luckily he caught it and issued refunds/replacements and started shipping genuine AW IMRs in subsequent orders.

My concern is that this wholesaler/mfg. could be up to their old tricks again, this time with a different vendor, like TW.

If TW has found a source of IMR's over 2000mah, that's great and I'm glad to hear it. I'm not saying it's impossible. But there are physical factors internal to the battery that, unless overcome by someone other than AW, limits the capacity to 2000mah. If a battery exceeds that, it would raise some red flags to me and I'd investigate further.

EDIT: There is indeed a 2250mah IMR battery. It is made by Panasonic in Japan and should be at least as high quality and as safe as anything from AW. I don't know the exact height, so it may, or may not, be too long for the V/LavaTube. That said, I'd still question a 2200mah as to it's origin.
If anyone is interested, here it is: http://www.orbtronic.com/batteries-...r18650ch-10a-18650-rechargeable-battery-cell/

There's an interesting video on CalliesKustoms.com where an AW IMR and the Panasonic IMR are both intentionally shorted. The AW melted the wires and reached 235 degrees. The Panasonic reached a top temperature of 185 degrees, not enough to seriously burn anything. It's the difference between spilling hot coffee on yourself and spilling molten lead on yourself. Neither battery exploded or flamed, although the AW got so hot that a hole was starting to melt in the jacket and the entire length of the wires was totally burnt. Not sure what would have happened if that hole was allowed to continue growing.

You could be holding your lavatube and if the Panasonic IMR shorts and heats up, you'd just feel a little heat, in time to drop it. It probably wouldn't destroy your PV. I think 235 degrees would do a lot more damage to the LT. Neither would vent, explode or really hurt you much though unless you just held onto it like a dummy.

Sold me. The Panasonics seem superior to the AW IMR's in every respect. Plus, they're cheaper and have 10% more capacity.

EDIT: here, check out this vid.
