Actually, although you don't like cartos you mention the issue being refilling and degrading flavor as the 2 points you don't like. If you could get around those issues, something like the Gripper from madvapes is very pocket friendly and inexpensive and puts out good vapor. You could just fill 3 or 4 cartos and put the condoms back on put them in your pocket. When the flavor goes or starts to dry, just drop another in.

You can save the old ones and when you get a bunch, just boil them in water about 5 minutes, blow em out, and leave them to dry and they are pretty much good as new.

If you wanted something nicer for home use, get a provari with a zen atty pro.

Same thing, good choice for other circumstances. Sounds like he Doesn't want to have to rebuild wicks at work. Although, maybe more pocket friendly as no tank to leak out.....

actually i suggested it because it was a tank atomizer, and you wouldn't necessarily have to rebuild it at work, the coils you build for it can last for a week or better...as far as pocket friendly, yes, its slimmer than most tanks, and its also solid stainless steel...the penelope is nearly indestructable, is easy to refill, vapes like a freight train, and is slimmer than most other options....this is the entire reason i suggested it, the ONLY negative is the price point, as you are looking at 120-150 bucks to get one....other than that, its an absolutely flawless device

edit: also as far as provari for being "nicer for at home"...its a rock solid device....if they had military spec vaporizers....provari would be it.....its also solid stainless...an absolute rock.

Perfect rugged setup for the toughest work environment:

View attachment 142681

Mod: Altsmoke BB. A small rugged 3.7v tube mod that uses a replacable 14500 battery (AA sized) which will give 8-10 hr vape time (carry an extra battery if you need longer). Built of thick 6061 aircraft-grade aluminum yet light in weight, silky-smooth threading on head and battery tube, dependable switch and center post. USA made Altsmoke reputation and customer service. An alternative would be his big brother, a Silver Bullet for a bigger battery, longer vape time, and the option to Kick it for variable voltage. Lanyard or Holster: Leather lanyard or belt holster from Serenity Gear. Hang your mod around your neck, in or out of a shirt or jacket, keeping it with you at all times to prevent misplacing it. Or hang it from your belt. Vendor makes these specific to fit your specific mod. Above pic is my BB sporting the big DC carto in a Serenity Gear lanyard.

Leather Lanyard: Serenity Gear lanyard or holster custom made to fit specific popular mods. Above is my BB in its lanyard. Can be kept inside or outside a shirt or jacket, always around your neck for easy access, never misplace your mod. Picture above is my BB in its Serenity Gear lanyard topped with the Smoktech DC XXXXL cartomizer.

dunno so much about the lanyard....as a mechanic there are rotating and moving things that can catch that and rip his head off.....however the BB/silver bullets are absolutely rock solid as well...i still say penelope is ideal as far as juice delivery, however those mega dual coils are also a favorite of mine and will fill the cab of my truck with vapor in about thirty seconds....and as you may have noticed i'm a fan of metal construction...so it works.

Excellent points. I added to my comment and added a pic of one of the vendors holster styles.

If money is no object, you may want to look at the Z-Atty Pro from Provari, and get the stainless steel tank to go with it. They aren't cheap! I don't have one, but it DOES look indestructible. They are currently out of stock, but you may want to get in touch with them to see.

you can often find them in the classifieds....ijs

The Gripper might be perfect. The size is great for pockets and stealth vaping, 80mm tall x 53mm wide x 25mm thick (3.14" x 2.08" x .98"). The shape avoids the problem of a long skinny battery snapping.

However, the review I saw mentioned the vape button is a bit loud. That might not be a problem for the OP as one would expect that his work environment would be a bit noisy.

Ahh, I looked at this again. I was thinking of the Phoenix. This actually looks like a pretty good choice.

Although, still, if a coil were to pop, it would not be useable, and a bit to mess with in the field.

IMHO, a good mech tube is pretty "fail proof", but personally I say get an auto KR808, any auto KR808. Sure the batteries last like crap, but heck, they're so cheap losing/breaking/dropping one isn't much of an issue - just bring along spares (and a PCC).

I mean, I started out with a Lavatube Mini and am now vaping an army of KR8s while my father runs along with my Mini (and his).

YMMV though, and while I get along fine with my army of stick batteries, they might not be enough for you power/stamina wise.

After a few hours of research based on your (very helpful) suggestions, I'm feeling very attracted to the Penelope. I also managed to stumble across this thread http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/gg/341917-preorders-previous-gg-items.html which may point to me owning one in the near future :D

The vaping world is kind of overwhelming when you're getting started.

Get verified and check the classifieds...they usually have a few floating around in there

From what I hear Reo is very durable and will carry its own bottle.

My suggestion would be to make something. I'm not an aircraft mechanic, but I have kids that tend to destroy anything in my pockets. I I made a few mods that would have a tank (in most cases Vivi Nova) completely enclosed:

The flashlights are more durable than the altoids box, but the latter can be made pretty strong if you reinforce the corners with JB Steelstik from the inside. So far it took an 8-year-old bouncing on it in my pocket, and survived.

Also, Vivi Novas don't seem to leak even upside down in a pocket on a bicycle.

Thanks for the tips to the OP, this helped me out as I was on the fence about a Vivi Mini Nova. I'd been using Blu for about a year and just recently switched to an eGo-c starter kit and have upgraded to an eGo-c Twist but am finding that the clearomizers I've been using are just running out of flavor quickly, and it's very frustrating. I'm trying to find an economical way of vaping, and not afraid of spending a little money to get started, but would like it to be cheap in the long run. Thanks again.

Great advice on here! I just don't think I am savvy enough to fill up blanks on my own...rather get the already filled carts. ;/ Soo new to the ecig thing. A month strong without real cigarettes tho! yay!

Look up how to condom fill a carto on YouTube...it will change your life if you're a carto guy

I've watched the vids, but doesn't the juice get on the outside of the carto? And some in the "condom"? I just can't help imagining it being sticky, and wasteful. Am I wrong?

No it seals perfectly... and the properties of juice, being a fluid, absorbs almost totally into the filler material...very minimal juice is left on the outside when you remove the condom...a paper towel resolves this issue nicely...a quick blow out into that said paper towel to clear flooding and its ready to vape...takes all of thirty seconds.
