I have just gotten started in making my own DIY juice. I am trying to perfect a good caramel coffee flavor that I order from a vendor. Right now I have a good mix that is okay, but not great. I ordered the flavors from FA (FlavorArt) Everything is good, except the caramel flavor isn't sweet enough. I am using mixes as high as 5% caramel and I have even tried a little more.

Can anyone recommend a very SWEET and SMOOTH caramel flavor that they can vouch for?

(Also if the color of the caramel flavor is clear or very close to clear, please mention that because I think I am also looking for a uncolored caramel flavor.)

Thanks!!!!

As per a mixologist I know - you can try to use the FA Caramel by adding some FA Butterscotch (and perhaps sweet creamy flavors) for a candy-like caramel. If the coffee is sweet already then a bit of the FA Butterscotch may work. Hope this helps.;)
I also use the butterscotch. Currently I am using all FA flavors. Caramel, Vanilla Tahiti, Coffee, and Butterscotch. I have messed with the percentages of each flavor, and I just don't think the Caramel is pronounced enough. I was using Vienna Cream, but it made my whole batch taste funny, so I quit using it. The FA Caramel smells good, and I can taste it a little, but not nearly enough as I am looking for.

I am a BIG BIG BIG fan of DFW Caramel Macchiato E-juice. I have been using that single flavor for over 2 years. I swear it is the ONLY flavor I use. I just got hooked on it. But it is rather expensive to keep buying 2-3 30ml bottles of it a month. That is why I am starting to DIY my own mixes. But in the DFW juice, the caramel taste like I am literally drinking a coffee with caramel creamer. The only thing I need for the recipe is to find a way to get that BANG flavor of Caramel. (If you know what I mean) :).

I know the DFW flavor is mostly Caramel with a little bit of coffee and probably a couple other flavors, but the Caramel is very dominant.

Maybe cutting back on the coffee and adding a little sweetener may help. Adding something like baverian cream may help bring out the caramel and sweetness. Even better dulce de leche from tfa may work as it's a creamy flavor additive based on caramel and to me it even has a note of coffee.

I might give that a try with the cream. The Vienna cream just wasn't to my liking. I am going to order some sweetener as well.

I wish I knew what brands of flavors that DFW uses in their Caramel Macchiato. I sent them an email and very kindly asked them to reveal their trade secrets and the brands of flavors they used. To my amazement...........I got no reply.. Lol. Figures. :)

Also make sure you give the mix enough steep time. Caramel and cream take at least 3 weeks to come out. So it is very likely the coffee is over powering everything else at the moment and the rest of the ingredients need time to meld with the coffee. There are ways to speed up the steep process. Just read my blog on steeping.

That's odd. Every time I click that link on steeping even if I open in a new tab, it logs me out of ECF and I have to log back in. Also logged in and went to alerts and it was giving me an error?

I clicked on the link and it took me right to it but you are correct it did log me out. Must be some sort of a recent change on the site. It never did that before. Question is though are you getting to the blog. If not theres a link in my sig line at bottom that will take you to all my ecf blogs. Just scroll down until you get to the steeping section. There's lots of other helpful stuff there as well so spend a little time going through them:)

Yea, I could see it, I saved it as a pdf so I wouldn't have to keep logging in. I have my last batch soaking in a thermos right now.

A crock pot if you have one would work best and is easy to do. Set it to low, fill with water to the juice line, Bottle the juice in glass, don't completely submerge the bottle (Don't want water to leak into the juice) and leave it in for about 3 hours shaking it half way through.

Also note you may see a color change in the juice this is expected.

Keep us informed of your progress.

I've been making hybrid-NETs for years and caramel is one of my favorite secondary flavorings. I've tried -dozens- of different caramels (none were clear or colorless) and my favorites are TFA "caramel original" and FW "Caramel candy". However, the caramel nuance I add to my NETs is a actually a blend of several flavorings. 1% sweetener, 1% FW "Butterscotch", 2% TFA "Bavarian cream", 3% TFA "Caramel original" and 4% FW "Caramel candy" are mixed with a NET to make an outstanding caramel tobacco. I occasionally substitute FA "Vienna cream" or "Catalan cream" in place of the "Bavarian cream" at the same percentage for a different cream nuance depending on the tobacco that's in play.

Thanks, i am going to try different brands for the caramel. Only reason I asked if there was one that was clear is because the last bottle of dfw caramel Macchiato I bought was clear and tasted like heaven. It was extremely smooth and good.
