I've been vaping for a few years now, but it's only been in the past year that I've gotten an APV. I got the VAMO 3, and I love it - it's been a great VV mod for me, but lately I've been looking into getting a Mechanical mod - something sturdy and reliable I could take with me wherever. In a perfect world I'd get a Zenesis, but unfortunately that's a little out of my price range. Since I've never owned a mechanical mod I'm hoping to get some input and suggestions from the vaping community.

Here's some of the criteria I'm looking for in a mechanical mod:

  • I'd like it to have both a 510 and a recessed eGo connection with a screw off recessed part (like my VAMO 3 has) for easy cleaning and so it can be removed if the atty I'm using requires it - but this is not a must (frankly, I don't know if they even make mechanical mods with that feature). Just a 510 connection would be fine; I can always get an eGo adapter if necessary.
  • An adjustable center pin
  • A firing button that locks - preferably on the side but a bottom switch is okay.
  • A magnetic button - this too is not a must, but it's just so cool!
  • Either telescoping or with interchangeable tubes for various battery sizes. Since I already own 18350s and 18650s it would be nice if it could fit those (or at least just the 18350s since they're compact).
  • Kickable, preferably with an 18350 - again, this is not a must since I could get a top mounted Force Kick Adapter, but an internal one would be better.
  • Priced under $99 - under $70 would be even better.

From the research I've done on my own I'm leaning toward the SmokTech Magneto V2. It seems to have much of what I'm looking for plus a sleek design, and I found it for a reasonable price at EVC - evcigarettes.com - here's the link:
Smoktech Magneto v2 Mechanical APV - EVcigarettes.com; in addition to the mod I have the option to also buy additional batteries, chargers, a SmokTech Kick and a SmokTech Vape Safe Fuze as a package, mixed and matched as I like.

I was also considering SmokTech's The Natural. There's two versions of The Natural, the regular one with various tubes for different battery sizes and a telescopic one. I was leaning toward the telescopic version but I've heard from some sites that it's not 100% mechanical while other sites have said that only the ones with the magnetic button are not fully mechanical. Does anyone know for sure who is correct?

If anyone has any input about the Magneto V2 and/or either version of The Natural I'd love to hear it. I'd also like to hear if anybody has any different suggestions. Thank you!

For under $90 there are not a lot of options for new authentic mechanical mods. If you do not have any moral issues with purchasing a clone then there are a lot of options.

If you aren't in a rush you can purchase a highly reviewed mech (ie nemesis, chi you, etc.) from FastTech. It will take a few weeks to be delivered but its cheap. They sell the nemesis magnets in 10 packs too.

if you don't want to wait check out some US vapeshops that have hcigar and or ehpro mods in stock and purchase the one you like the most for somewhere between $40 and $70. There are many choices available (ie caravela, nemesis, etc.)

Good luck on the hunt. It is fun!

I've browsed through FastTech several times in the past and while their prices are amazing there was always a few things I was concerned about. My main concern being that they're located in China; the one time I ordered something from a Chinese company I got completely stiffed and, while it wasn't as if I spent I lot of money, it ...... me off beyond belief since there was no customer service line I could contact and there was no legal authority (or something like a Better Business Borough) I could appeal to that could hold them accountable. Brant, you said that you just placed an order with them; have you dealt with them in the past, and are they as reputable as they make themselves look on their website?

My next concern is the quality of the clones they sell. I have no problem purchasing a no name clone as long as the quality is decent - frankly, I find paying extra money just for a name to be ridiculous unless it's backed by superior standard of quality. Does anyone know how well built FastTech's clones are?

And lastly, how is their customer service? Will they replace items that are damaged or dead on arrival?
If there is anyone who has dealt with FastTech extensively, please let me know what you think of them and the products they sell, because I know as far as price is concerned, they are amazing.

BTW, does anyone know how long it takes for a shipment from them to be sent to the east coast?

Thanks for all the help!

I can only speak for myself.

1. The quality of the 69 mod I bought was really good. I am waiting for USPS to deliver to me my chi you and nemesis so I cant speak about them personally but others say they are really good.

The aqua clone I received looks great but one of the terminal nuts came stripped. Fasttech responded to my support ticket within 24 hours and will send me replacements with my next order (since I am placing one anyway).

I really like there website layout and how everything is so transparent. When I got tired of waiting.

A couple of things if you plan to use FAsttech.

1. place multiple orders rather than one big one if you see items that will take awhile to ship. Dont hold up 10 items that are ready to ship for 1 $4 rba.
2. Try to ship throug HK post rather than china post. Seems to get here much faster.

If you want a specific mod from a specific manufacturer you can find good clones at places in the us like vaperoyalty and eciggity plus many others.

I love my copper caravela clone I received from eciggity.

Ps It takes about a 7-10 days thrpug China Post. I received some drip tips from them throug HK post in about 4 or 5 days.

the nemesis clone is a nice made, doesnt have a ego connector or magnet switch but you can add the magnets. I havnt had issues with fast techs mods. all of them have worked great for me. if you dont want to use them then look at Hcigar, should be a few USA dealers with them, always seem to be sold out though

If you want an ego threaded simply get the 510/ego adapter which I use on my Nemesis clone for ego threaded clearomizers. No problem with it at all since it doesn't show nor leave a gap. As for the cleanable top section most are flat like the Nemesis in one form or other which is easy to clean and can completely be dismantled.
