Hello ECF! I'm here for I need some recommendations for a new brand/type of e-cig to replace smoking cigarettes (again). Let me start off by giving a rundown of what I have tried and my problems with these brands. Around December last year for Christmas I received my first e-cig brand from my parents. It was Modern Vapor 510 starter pack which was really great. The taste was satisfying, the throat burn was pleasant, very similar nay better than smoking the real deal. It made me completely stop smoking and I lost the feeling for smoking regular cigarettes, got my sense of smell and taste back fully and was simply repulsed by the smoke and taste.

Problems did arise though within 2 months, had a small scare incident where the ejuice was leaking out of the charger pack on to my desk, while one day my cat jumped up on it and stepped in it. Can say that wasn't to fun cleaning his paw and receiving scars over it. Well even though the pack and cartridges kept leaking so much I still used the device enjoying what it provided. About a month after(Feb) the scare incident, I must've left the LED light on in the pack and in the morning the LED was dead and the charger pack smelled like burning plastic. Pretty much became unusable, so I decided to open it up and see what the smell was, to my dismay the board itself had fried and melted a good portion of the pack and board. So then it was back to normal cigarettes again.

In the mean time my friend got himself this Blu e-cig and swore by it being the best thing he has ever had. So opted to purchase a starter pack myself thinking it would just be like my modern vapor, boy was I wrong. Battery life of the ecig was similar to my modern vapor but the taste was just awful. their normal tobacco flavor was more like coffee and all the rest were just horrible except the cherry which was nice but got tiring real quick. Other problems came up with their cartomizers which, I just know how people can deal with getting faulty cartomizers or when the cartomizers decided to burn themselves up making for a horrible taste and something probably toxic. Overall the experience was so back and the thought of sinking around $120 in 2 months on e-cigs just made me switch back to good ole normal cigarettes.

Well now its been many months, I yearn for cleaner teeth, healthy lungs, heightened sense of smell and taste once again. So I have come to you the professionals to hopefully find something that will suit me til I quit my intake of nicotine or rest in the grave. I have seen thise wonderful "eGo" type e-cig with the manual batteries and the drip tip for controlled dosage. Yet when I search google, all I get is a hodgepodge secondhand dealers of these devices with a lot of them being made in china which is a no go for me.

What I am looking for is
-A brand of eGo e-cig that is safe, reliable, and I can contact the company anytime I need assistance
-Maybe a place that may sell a Starter pack?
-Drip tip for controlled dosage
-A place that may sell their own ejuice or maybe a recommendation of a place that sells some.
-the bottle droppers to be used with the drip tip.
-Absolutely no cartomizers
-All made in the USA or Europe where safety is a priority
-hopefully under $70

Well that pretty much sums it all up. Since I am still new to these things open to any and all types of suggestions(no cartomizers please) and any information you can provide me will be much appreciated. Thank you for your time to whomever reads this.

Welcome to ECF. More knowledgeable people than I will be answering all your questions sometime today. I would recommend a visit to a local Vapor Store. Do a web search for ECigarettes within your home town or close by. I see your in CA and they should have a good representation of stores around you. Nothing beats a hands on demo from a knowledgeable local vapor dealer.

Thank you for the reply, unfourtanatley I live in a small farming community without acess to adequate transportation to the nearest store which is about 2 hours away. I shall wait for the vapor gurus to inform me of my options.

Hi and welcome to ECF
-A brand of eGo e-cig that is safe, reliable, and I can contact the company anytime I need assistance
Buy from a verified ECF listed vendor. They have subforums here and Reps to address questions and resolve issues quickly.
Standard eGo fires at 3.3 volts. Kgo fires at 3.7 volts. There is a noticeable diff IMO. Kgo starter Kit costs about $50
the bottle droppers to be used with the drip tip.
All bottles of juice comes with dropper tips.
-Absolutely no cartomizers
Stay away from the outdated "tank" system- atomizers+ cartridge as they are prone to leaks. Your best bet is prolly a Mini Vivi Nova Tank. Comes with 3 heads (coil+ wick) that can be cheaply and easily replaced. When the head burns out simply unscrew the old head out and screw in new head- takes 10 secs. My heads are lasting about 4 weeks BUT I wash the heads every few days. I've found the Vivi Nova to give the best draw.
-All made in the USA or Europe where safety is a priority
Over 90% of hardware is made in China unless you looking at a very expensive Mod.
Or you could go with the Mini VV Spinner or Twist- 3.3- 4.8 volts.

Edit: cost for VV Twist Starter Kit about $60? and for Spinner Starter Kit about $70- $90 depending i=on the size you purchase.
100 mah= 1 hr normal vaping before recharge. Realize if you're using a higher voltage on a VV the batt life will be diminished.

I recommend Smokeless Image. They sell X2s in 650, 900, and 1300 mah. Two of the 650s would cost 40.00 (20.00 each) Add a charger, 10 bucks, and a pack (or two) of cartomizers, 9 or 10 bucks, and some juice, and you're good to go. You have a choice of manual batteries or automatic batteries.

The X2 is an ego style battery, but it is 808 threaded,,,,,100 mah=roughly 1 hour of vaping,,,,,,,so 650 is about 6 and a half hours,,,,,

Their customer service is phenomenal, none better,,,,,,my 900 mah arrived not working well and they replaced it instantly,,,,,,,shipping is quick, you'll have it in your hands in about 5 days,,,,,and they are based here in the USA, AND there's a Smokeless iMage forum you can ask questions on, get more info, etc, once you have 5 posts.

Someone here in at ECF just bought that starter kit and are not happy. I'm presently assisting him. The Vision eGo Stardust™ clear cartomizers are the old version short wick and they are not rebuildable and dry burns/ poor wicking of the juice are an issue. Once the head (coil+wick) burns out you must be another clearomizer. Also the batteries run in 2 modes:
starts at 4.2 volts and goes down as you vape and the batt drains= higher voltage but batts drain quicker
runs continuously at 3.3 volts until batt drains- lower voltage but batts last longer.

I think cartomizers are both cheap and easy for beginners,,,,,,,I just ordered 40 cartomizers from Revolution Vapor for 34.00 (using a returning customers coupon code),,,,,they are normally 20.00 for 20,,,,,,,,30.00 sale gets free shipping. Two of us vaping, these will last us 3 months.

I don't have an issue with taste until they get old and I refill them many times. But each to her own,,,,I know many people recommend tanks, but for beginners,,,,,,,eh, I think cartos are really simple and easy,,,,,once you know what you're doing, it's easier to move on to newer and better things.

Here are the diff delivery devices- holds the and vaporizes the juice
Different delivery systems:
atomizer/ atty- an element on to which 3-4 drops of juice is dripped- usually used to test new juices as it's easy to clean.

cartridge/ cart- a container with sponge (filled with juice) that is used with the atty- juice drips on to atty from cart and is vaporized- old outdated "tank" system and prone to leaks.

cartomizer/ carto- metal tube with stuffing and element.

carto+tank- a carto with a hole punched in it. Carto is than placed in a glass, metal or plastic tank which is filled with juice- juice saturates carto by way of hole in carto.

Clearomizer (includes Vivi Nova)- a plastic or metal tank with a wick and element. Contains NO stuffing. The rebuildables come with heads (coil+ wick) that can be cheaply and easily replaced. When the head burns out simply unscrew the old head out and screw in new head- takes 10 secs. My heads are lasting about 4 weeks BUT I wash the heads every few days. I've found the Vivi Nova to give the best draw- On some PVs the Stardusts have a tight draw.

Thank you for the warning. There are so many options, so many brands to choose from.
You're welcome. There's a very good reason they are on sale. With the VV Minis available there's really no demand for this PV. Also the disposable Stardusts are not being bought as everyone is buying the rebuildables.

I've had horrible experience with sub par cartomizers and I wish to avoid anything to deal with them. I feel maybe an eGo battery with the atomizer and drip tip maybe the most simplest and convenient way for me to go. Just drop 2 drops, vape, be done and put it away. Then all I'd have to worry about is replacing the atomizer and buying more ejuice without the hassle of leaks or burned cartomizers. So many website to choose from and still having a little trouble finding a website that has all that I need so I can get it sent in one package.

Just thinking of the burned cartomizers taste and smell makes my stomach turn.

Great description, Vapoor...I really wish I would have known about the Vivi Nova when I was a beginner. It would have been sooo much easier for me as a rookie! They really are incredibly easy to use and provide a great vaping experience.

I was looking at the nova which looks nice but other than that I have no clue about its reliability and functionality. I understand the wick but not the head. I just want something that will not burn. I'm not sure what touches the atomizer if anything at all? The taste of burned cartomizer still haunts me. Please forgive my ignorance as this is more new to me that I was expecting.

I LOVE my cartomizers but am not recommending them because both Boge and Smok Tech are having quality control issue- hit and miss and I know that CommaHolly is being honest and forthright. As for dripping you'll have to maintain and clean the atomizer as it gets gunked/ clogged up with burnt juice.

That isn't much of a problem as my modern vapor was battery + atomizer+ cartridge. I had to clean the atomizer often. I kinda feel that is the way I should go but now I'm looking at brands and brands of eGos and not sure where to go from here. Trying to find a site that has the eGo 1000mah battery, the atomizers, drip tip, and ejuice is a little harder then I thought.
