Another Velocity vote here. The authentic is always a good choice, but if price is a factor and you want to go the clone route, make sure it is the Tobeco clone. Not all Velocity clones are created equal and the Tobeco is the best of the bunch.

You said you wanted something to learn and grow with and that is what the Velocity will allow you to do. The Magma is a tried and true rda, but due to it's very limited airflow, it does not leave much room for growth, or experimentation. The Velocity can do just about anything you want it to and the airflow can be set from mouth-to-lung all the way to zero restriction with everything wide open. It is a rare rda that will work just as well for beginners as it will for the advanced builder.

I think I'm going to start with that Vector and 28 kanthal. I like the top airflow so less leaks.

It looks like it has a decent size juice well?

Should I go with cotton or rayon for wick? I've seen a couple posts that rayon is better for RDA's?
You're probably going to have to try both and see which you like better. I personally use rayon.

Price is definitely a factor right now as I'm not sure RDA is the way I'm going to go. I work / travel / ride / drive more than I'm at home so my primary vape is a tank. But like everything else I do, I seem to turn it into a hobby of its own. I'm sure I'll end up with a couple RDA's until I'm done. I've already bought and sold 3 box mods and I've only been vaping 6 weeks. Lol

No way to know (that I can see) what the mfr. is on FastTech. Is this a good one? Seems to be the most popular on the site, and is listed as a 1:1 clone.

$8.60 Velocity Styled RDA Rebuildable Dripping Atomizer (22mm, SS) at m.FastTech.com - FastTech Mobile

If not that, what's a good place to get the Tobeco version?

This is a personal, subjective choice. Cotton is way cheaper, a couple years supply for $3 - 4. Rayon (synthetic cotton or cellucotton) isn't that expensive in the long run either, but only comes in bulk (lifetime supply) for around $10 from Sally's Beauty Supply. Synthetic cotton doesn't get scorched by the hot coils so it last longer than cotton.

Cotton Bacon and KoGenDo (Japanese Cotton) probably wick better, but are much more expensive.

Check the reviews on fasttech for what you order they are usually a good indication of the quality. I order stuff from them all the time. The only downside is the shipping time
I've ordered a few things from FastTech and had good success. I actually have an order on the way now. This just wasn't one of the things I wanted to chance, not to mention wait for, LOL.

Thanks. I ordered some cotton along with a small spool of 28 gauge Kanthal wire and some pre made coils. The cotton is cheap enough I won't mind learning with it. I'll look at the other ones you mentioned along with rayon at some point. Thanks!

I'm thinking about trying out a RDA for something different. I'm looking primarily to flavor but some clouds can be fun.

I'm leaning toward the Magma clone as the price seems pretty good and from what I've read quality is also good.

Is this a good one to learn and grow with? I'll be learning from the ground up. How to wind coils, wicking, etc. Is there another one that would be better to learn on? I've bottom airflow is best avoided by new drippers.

I have an iPV4s coming so power shouldn't be an issue.

Any information, wire guage, coil wraps, a different RDA, etc is very appreciated!

Thanks!
I like the troll. It has a positive T post to build on which is super easy. It is also not very leaky bc it has side airflow. It is great for cloud and flavor.

Thanks, I'll add that to my list of ones to take a look at!
