Okay, today i received my package to start DIY.

So far.. not much luck. They flavors are there, I taste them but it feels like something is missing or not the right mix. Im not sure.

How I would describe it would be that each flavor is very dull.. nothing stands out (like vendor juices). It honestly taste like im vaping an oily/(insert flavor here)/no sweetness/dull flavor with all of them.

Here is what i have available to use: I have been testing with no nic so I dont waste it.

(all from lorAnns)
Banana Cream
English Toffee
Cheesecake
Strawberry
Grape
Pina Colada
Cherry
-----------
250ml of 50/50 pg/vg preblend
30ml 48mg/ml unflavored nic in 50/50 blend

At the time there was no "Sweetener" i could order and my first thought is... "Thats what its missing!!" but I would like to know, is this true? should the flavors really be no good in a way, without a sweetener?

Each sample i tried was at about 10-15% flavor and 5mls at a time.

Any suggestions on what i may be doing wrong and/or suggestions on mixes at certain %'s.

Is Sweetener really that important to make a juice good? Where can I buy sweetener that is actually in stock lol

thanks for the help in advance!

I've made the LorAnn's Cherry myself. To me it has a mediciney taste to it. I'm not too fond of it as a single mix. My wife likes it though, and I might try to mix it with something else like caramel to see what kind of taste I can get out of it.
As for sweetner, I've heard of people using Eathyl Maltal (EM), cotton candy flavoring, and a super consintrated sucralose. I use a liquid sucralose (look for liquid Splenda or it's generic equivalent). You can buy at your local grocery store. It might not be the super consintrated everyone else uses but it seems to work. Start out using only 2% of it though.
One thing you have to realise is that these flavorings were, more or less, made for making candy and other sweets. Your talking about 3mls of flavoring mixing with 2-3 cups of sugar. So try sweetening it up a bit.
The main problem I'm having is the flavor, in the good batches I make, is great out of the box, but it seems to fade out over time.

Edit: I tasted the Cherry again after letting it set in my wife's clearo and the taste seems to be mellowing out a bit. We've desided to let it steep for a week and see what happends. So you might want to do that yourself.

Sweetner is necessary for LorAnn flavors in juice. I use "Stevia to go" which was available at Wal Mart, now they have 'Skinny Girl Stevia" in small bottles still near the sugar in Walmart but it's got a new label.

I use one drop of Stevia for every ml of flavor. If you use too much, it will make the flavor dissapear entirely. I put the stevia into a juice bottle, the bottle it comes in squirts out in large volume close to a teaspoon per squeeze.

I also think the LorAnns Cherry tastes medicine like. I use the Watkins Cherry flavoring instead. It's also available at Wal Mart. 2oz Bottle for $3.98 or so.

I use 2ml of Watkins cherry and two drops of stevia for a 15ml bottle of juice.

I use the Tart and Sour drops by LorAnn. Citric and Malic acid...a little goes a long way. Also started steeping for the first couple days with the cap/dripper off to let the alcohol evaporate. Makes it much less harsh, since much, if not all of the LorAnn stuff is alc based.

EDIT: most are PG based but quite a few have alcohol in them. Here is a handy thread I found that may help

Also putting 1 drop of lemon juice per 10ml will make a fruit flavor pop.

true,,,,,,but I find it totally makes my cartos brown,,,,,

oddest thing ever,,,,,,,whenever I use lemon juice, my cartos get brown and gunky,,,,same ingredients, same recipe, same cartos minus the lemon juice, no problems.

weird.
