@Two_Bears Ahh I see :rolleyes:

10 weeks?? Damn! Those Atlantis... 14 days max (and that was on the good one!) the 'bad' ones have either been rubbish from the start, or around 7-8 days. Feel like I'm getting robbed on those coils now :/

Once I get into the swing of things, I'll def be going down that route of building my own. I build PC's. How hard can a coil be  - But for now, I just want something that's off the shelf that works well, and then further down the line... I'll be pestering everyone with building techniques :pervy:

I did some calculations if I were to continue to smoke ($2,500 a year), Vape with premade coils ($1,500 a year), and vape with coils I built, ($700 a year)(mostly for juices). Now I am looking to get my cost to under $300 by doing my own liquids.
I can get 100 foot toll of Kanthal for $4.50. I can get 3-4 coils out of a foot of Kanthal so my coils cost about 1.3 cents each. I get organic cotton balls at Walgreens for about $5 and each cotton ball will make 6-10 wicks. I have had some could last 2 1/2-3 1/2 months
I DIY my juice. I got a gallon of VG for $21 and I pay about $12 per liter of PG. That is enough to make 4.5 liters of ejuice. The only expense I have is flavoring, and nicotine. The last Batch I made has 1mg nic and my habit is very cheap.

That's the beauty of RTAs. Pull out the nasty icky wick dry burn the coil as if you use an RDA after the gunk has been burned off it is like you have a brand new coil that you can revwick and keep on vaping. If you use good wire for the coils you can easily use them for three months or more. The longest I had one last was almost 15 weeks and re wicked it 2-3 times a week; whenever the flavor tasted off.
About 10-12 coils will last me a year for the two RTAs I use.

Damn that is cheap! :w00t:

My coils cost £14 for 5 atm. ($21.47 to you) and my liquid costs £18 for 30ml which lasts me for about 9-10 days ($27.60)

I think I need to look into making my own juices more so than coils! Wowzer!

You need some help, man. :)

5 coils cost me about £6-8 depending (fasttech) and I pay 90p-£2.50 for 10ml of liquid.

The answer to your original question is not that complicated. Most power coils take a while to settle and you simply can't get good results driving them at full power (25w) from the get go.

Start low, bed them in, vape on.

@djsvapour erm, fasttech is US based though. Edit: Didnt notice the 1st time they do worldwide shipping. My bad!

Since @Two_Bears post, I've been looking up UK stores to make my own juice. I'm much more interested in that now than learning how to build my own coils as there's a ton of savings to be had on the juice side.

@djsvapour It was the $ prices that put me off :pervy:

They certainly look cheap!

yes... you can stock up (in advance) for all sorts of 'spares'.

If a product says "Authentic" it is real. Otherwise it's a clone.

They do a very good clone of the Kanger Subtank Mini. Basically, it's not assembled in the official Kanger factories. It's almost perfect though. I paid £14.

Interestingly, it's the same tank a US company charges $59.99 for. (I'll self destruct if I start a thread about that particular company... thank goodness they haven't got popular in the UK).

There are some clone coils... most are disappointing. If you try to buy genuine Aspire products, you might have some trouble paying. I use a 'gift credit' note to buy Aspire products.

DIY vaping is very very inexpensive.

The expensive part of DIYing ejuice is the nicotine and flavors.

Some DIYers make unflavored ejuice. (I haven't gotten that brave yet) but just add the VG the PG and the nicotine.

If you are going to DIY EJuice I have four pieces of advice for you.

1. Get a good ejuice calculator because nicotine can be dangerous in too high of levels.

2. The first few batches you make may not taste very good so make small batches until you get your recipes down pat. I am talking about 5-10 ml batches. So it is no great loss if you have to toss a batch or two.

3. Some flavors are strong and others are weak so only put 50-75% as much flavor as they call for. You can always add more flavor if it is too weak but you can't take it out if the flavor is too strong.

4. Nicotine can be dangerous and comes in all kinds of strengths like 36 mg/ml 52 mg per ml or even 100 mg per ml. This is why you need an ejuice calculator. It is advisable to add the nic as the last ingredient and to wear gloves when working with it.

I make 60 ml batches of ejuice but I know what my flavors and nic is like so I make big batches.

I didn't get a kit like that. I just started with the VG and PG from Amazon and 5 blood syringes. These don't have a sharp point to penetrate the skin.

Then I got my nic from another place, and flavors from a third source.

Now you can use the same syringe for both the PG and VG.

If you want you can use the same syringe for flavor or course make sure the syringe is empty and clean. Before getting the flavor.

Now you MUST have a separate syringe for the nic.

I used my sisters red fingernail polish andvpaintedva big red X on the back of the syringe so that syringe is not used for anything other than nic then after cleaning syringes I put the syringe for nic in a plastic bag and attach it to my nic with s rubber band. The other syringes go into another plastic bag for the next time I make ejuice.
