Ive been trying several cheap brands of 7-11 disposable ecig brands they havent quite done the trick, just recently picked up a krave1000 from the guy in the mall. Then my uncle guided me here once he started talking to me about the Steel T-Rex he has on the way to his house, and quite simply now I am trying to figure out what I need to have. Been smoking since Im 12 2+ packs a day Marlboro Lights (BLAH). I like the idea of filling and mixing my own flavors, but I dont know a cartomizer from an atomizer!!! Help me please people of the vapor:)

Well I have been smoking for about 16 years at this point averaging usually 1 1/2 to 2 packs a day, 3 on weekends when i go out. And honestly Im looking for something that will actually keep me away from the analogs, I thought going up to these 8mg would be a vast improvement but that was before I looked online and saw that there was a whole lot about these things I hadnt discovered yet. In terms of budget I dont mind spending money to save I just spent 100 yesterday getting this krave1000along with 7 prefilled 8mg cartridges. And if someone could help me understand some of this I wouldnt be opposed to buying another set up right now.

Speaking as one who once smoked 1.5 packs a day (PAD), sometimes more... no way is 8mg going to cut it. 24mg would be a good starting point; you can't go much higher, and you can easily "thin it out" if it turns out too strong. I'd also highly suggest something like an Ego, Riva, or a KR808 (if you get a PCC for it)... you're going to need a lot of battery life, and a stock 510 will probably start driving you nuts in about a month. There are plenty of PV's out there with big batteries that are readily available from multiple vendors, anywhere from 650-1100mah. An Ego or Riva would probably be a good beginning PV for ya.

Forget prefilled cartridges; they're almost universally gross. Buy your liquid by the bottle, and blank carts to put it in. Get a lot of smaller (like 5ml) sizes at first, and try lots of different kinds of flavors, not just tobacco. You never know what you're going to like!

Cartomizers are "semi-disposable" combination atomizer/cartridges. An atty & cart combined in one piece. They're all I use anymore :). Keep them moist, and you'll get up to a week out of one before it becomes unvapeable... then you just toss it. A cartomizer ("carto") isn't much more expensive than a cartridge, and every time you change it, you get a brand new atomizer. In the long run, using cartos is roughly the same expense as buying new atomizers & carts, less hassle and mess, and just a generally better vaping experience. Try some of the "soft tip" cartos, esp. the ones by Boge or Smoketek.

Well honestly 8mg is low you should check out something like 24-36mg. One of the popular e-cigs seem to be the Ego (i luv mine) simple to learn on. The cartos are also a good way to start they can be refilled and reused. E-juice is going to be something to experiment with but there are many good spots that can be recommended.

You can click here for atomizer and here for cartomizer to learn more about the difference. Essentially a cartomizer is like an atomizer & cartridge put together.

You seem like a heavy smoker so you'll probably want something with good battery life. The small batteries that are the size of an analog (i.e, cigarette) don't last very long and you'll probably need a few to get you through a day. Also, because of their small size and limited capacity, they are not capable of delivering enough electric current to power a "low resistance" atomizer. Lower resistance atomizers/cartomizers burn hotter so if find yourself wanting a stronger hit you may want to experiment with them and with the small batteries you can't. Therefore I would recommend something the size of an eGo/Riva/GoGo/iGo/vGo/whateverGo or bigger.

If you want big hot hits then you need a big battery model (like Ego, Riva 510, T-Rex) or a 3.7v mod so you can use low resistance (LR) cartos and atomizers.

If you want something slimmer look at manual battery 510 (short battery life), 510 s/ mega xl batteries (60% more battery charge,128mm long w/ a carto), KR808D-1 (also in colors at Vapor4Life.com) a 2-piece mini

After about a month of using a joye 510 I wasn't happy. This is like most users (and guys in general with a new toy).I found out quick that when I could legally smoke anywhere that I rarely put down my e cig. So I looked at mods. I research all I could find and decided not to spend money on the diy kits or Things that looked cheap. I wanted quality, I wanted American made and being a klutz something that didn't sound like it would break the first time I dropped it (or the 100th). I went with the Saber touch mini. All I can say now is wow! If your gonna start at 3.7 volts start with what I think is the best The $40 you save on a starter kit will pay for 4 batteries and a charger (went with the aw imr16340 from research I think they are the best match). Double check the fine print on chargers some need a spacer to charge the 16340's. My money spent on a starter kit, a extra charger, 4 extra batteries was wasted after my first Long slow drag on the Saber touch mini. At least I can reuse my 510 atomizers and carts. The best part is the 5 year guarantee for a klutz like me. Good Luck

I think you'll be happy with the Steel T-Rex but if you don't mind holding something a little bigger and heavier you might want to consider a 3.7V mod like one Stargel suggested. There's a bunch of them out there and most use 3.7V replacable, rechargable batteries that will last longer than the smaller eCigs. Most newcomers don't start with a 3.7V mod right away though.

Ok Guys I just ordered my Steel T-Rex starter kit with the 1100mAh batteries figured its what my uncle got this way we can trade back and forth on flavors and cartridges if the need were to arise. I will certainly keep everyone appraised of how I feel about it. And how come I feel like I just found another hobby to try and spend my ever dwindling freetime trying to figure out completly....... <----Hates being OCD
