I didn’t take the time to weed though this whole thread… so will just comment on my personal take of what Reosmods and Reoville have become, and where IMO they are still headed.
I acquired 35 Reos IIRC, mainly because with the very first one (Aug 2014) I realized that for my uses that they and squonking were a real game changer for me. My Reo purchases were progressive, buying whatever I could find available at first of the oldest OG models and Woodvils when none were being made off classifieds, and stocking up on new current models from Rob and endless mostly high end bf atty’s. The models in my actual use changed over time as new Reo models came along. So some Reos/atty’s I never did use, I only used some of them part time with way too many in hand, and it eventually got down to where I was only using the 5 P67 Reos regular. Basically the P67's when they were first released put all my other Reos on the shelf. But I’ve found new high quality mech squonk
mods I like more than even the P67’s now, and for about half their price or less. For my uses the new mech squonk gear handles my super low sub ohm builds and preferred 24mm/25mm atty’s way better than the Reo P67's do. I’m also starting to finally dive into some regulated squonk mods.
The Reos put squonking on the map, nobody can ever take that away from them or Rob. Nor the customer service that Rob always lived up to, and his Robism's as a daily driver on the forum. But the huge customer base the Reos, Rob and Reonauts had earned over the years started to move on when Reoville was shut down in March 2016. Months after the new ownership took over Reoville it is not coming back. There is nothing there to lure them back, it seldom gets activity from even the most dedicated Reonauts let alone the owner. The kinship is mostly gone. It also doesn’t help that the market is already saturated with all the previous Reo models. And maybe more importantly because with the new boom in squonking worldwide some specific China companies are making high quality squonkers now for pennies on the dollar of what a Reo costs. That makes the road a very steep one for Reosmods as well. Reosmods simply can not compete with them price wise.
I do wish good fortune for Reosmods and Reoville. But so far over the months I have seen very little that suggests they will. At least the long-standing Reonauts already have gear in hand that will last them a lifetime.
