OK, so I have a bit of an issue with a brand new coil head that I bought yesterday for my I Clear 30. My Innokin Itaste MVP was basically dead after a year of use so yesterday I went to my local e-cig shop and bought a Zmax sigelei V3. I also purchased a new coil head for my I Clear 30 because the one I was using was about a month old.

I installed the new coil head and attached the I Clear 30 to my new Zmax mod. The first thing I did after learning how to use the menu was checked the resistance on my atomizer and it read 1.7 ohms. I was happy with that and the mod as it seemed to work really well at my usual 4.0 - 4.2 volt setting. I vaped with it for only about 20 minutes as the battery was brand new and I wanted to get it on the charger right away.

As that battery was charging I attached that same I Clear 30 back onto my old Itaste MVP and was using it while plugged into my laptop, sort of as a pass through. About 4 hours later when my battery was charged I attached that same I Clear 30 back to my new Zmax mod and checked the resistance of the atomizer and it was at 4.0 ohms. I have no clue what happened or how that happened on a brand new coil head.

Is it a bad coil perhaps? Did my Itaste MVP screw it up somehow? I have to have my new mod set to about 5.5 volts just to get a decent pull and I don't like that being set so high.

*NEW INFO*
So after just writing this and before posting it I decided to take the tip of the I Clear 30 and see how the coil looked. I fired it up a few times and only noticed the bottom coil turning red. Don't know what that means.

You have an open in the top coil. The individual coils are 4ohms each and when you have two in parallel the total resistance drops to 2ohms. If a coil goes bad your total resistance doubles.

Here is a spreadsheet with some ohms calculators in it along with other cool stuff.
