Stone has a least one other thread he likes to keep up with when he's here. He'll be back. :thumb:
One?!? Try 5 or 6

You didn't run me off :) I'm just reading along....

I will say that one of the smartest tech guys I know is gay.
Trevor is certainly a smart one, it's so funny cause he's a computer tech but I've taught him a thing or two about posting picture's and stuff  All learned right here on ECF of all things

Oh good grief I'm tired!

Yup, it's not closed to anyone. Race, gender, creed... anyone can get really good at it. I actually wish I knew more about Servers and that kind of Networking. I just don't want it bad enough to put the time into it. And all I really know is computers. There's so much more out there now, with smart phones, iPads, Kindle readers, and all of that.

There's a first time for everything. ECF was my first forum, and I really knew nothing. I figured some of it out by myself, intuitively, but the first OP of the Beach showed me a lot about posting pictures and videos, and some other things. Everyone here is so helpful. It's really a great forum. :)

The more complex all of this gets, the less I know for sure. I used to know much more about many tech things than I do now....I remember running machines with DOS. Heck, I remember when a modem had two round cups for a telephone receiver...

    No, that's a TTY :)
CapTel let's the deaf person speak for themselves (VO) while an operator types what you say back to us for us to read :)

So you can speak OK, but have trouble hearing now. If you can speak to a CapTel operator, I bet I could understand you just fine. :)

I speak normally hon, maybe a little too loudly sometimes if I don't watch myself

I was 30 before things really started to go bad for me.

And I don't speak to the operator, I speak to you ;)

I remember DOS, too. Those commands still work today, or at least most of them still do.

There was a computer system with a telephone receiver modem at a job I had. The modems in the digital language interpreter computers we designed and built had an internal analog card on each end of the two comm channels, so I really thought that one looked weird. It was, of course, a much older computer, but it still worked.

When I was in elementary school, we used computer terminals with those modems...they had a roll of yellow paper that printed your session with the computer

    Hi Lisa! :)
