You're not supposed to use White-Out on the screen to make corrections.
It's too scratchy to get it off for the next use!

When I was in elementary school, we used computer terminals with those modems...they had a roll of yellow paper that printed your session with the computer

Computers are everywhere now! The county where my Grandson goes to school now gives an I-pad to every student fifth grade and above. All of their textbooks and materials are contained on the i-pads.
Evening everyone! Just stopping in for a few...

We had computer labs by the time I was in middle school.I had to buy an IBM "portable" (40 or so pounds) in 1985. It had a tiny screen with an amber display and dual 5 1/4" floppy drivesI saw my first one when I was about 30. That was in about 1985.

I remember when Compaq released the first laptop. Or what was touted as the first laptop. Dual 5 1/4" floppy drives. Wow, you were really Up Town.![]()
That's precisely the type of "portable" I had to buy. It was required for my college classes.I was just going to say.... anyone remember the Compaq that also weighed about 40 lbs where you would set it down, unlatch one end that tipped out which was the keyboard? The screen was at that end, inside and was probably about 8" on the diagonal at most.

I said I saw my first one at age 30. I'm not sure when the first real DOS computer came out. We were using the Intel 8085 processor in the computer systems we designed and built. These were Gov't projects. Ours was to translate one computer language to another, so a Missile Launch Command, Communications, and Control site could talk to the Missile site. Both used different computer languages natively. That job was from '82 to '86.
I'd tell you again how old I am, but you would say you're 28, so never mind.![]()
