 The greed factor is everywhere. "Pay me more, and I will give you better service than if you just paid regular already outrageous prices." Unbelievable!!

I was more than a little stunned.

I'm going to ask about this. We might have to have a discussion about what I WON'T get if I don't and I'm sure not going to!

Some docs are trying a new model of healthcare. They get a base of pts to pay them up front and they will take care of all their medical needs (except surgery or where other specialties are needed). Supposedly they can spend more time with each patient that way. And because insurance is not involved, the charges for things like labs and x-rays are a tiny fraction of what is usually charged bc of insurance. Not sure if that is what JJ's doc is going for?

That is what it was called. Still not going for it because Medicare and Supplemental cover all my cost.

Night Glam :) Have fun with the monsters

Exactly. It wouldn't benefit you. But for people/families that have to pay exorbitant insurance premiums, it might work out better for them.

If you had this new type of model, you would only have to purchase insurance for 'catastrophic' cases. Much cheaper than regular insurance.

And, I am not condoning or condemning it. I don't know enough about it to make a decision. Just sharing what little I do know

It would work out better if people were not required to have insurance except for hospitalization and labs... hell, I don't know. I only know that in the last two months I have paid doctors and dentists almost 13K. So much for savings for fun things. :(

That might work. It would be worth a try to see.
