Good afternoon, Beachers......

I was right...we were in the grocery store by 9 a.m., and I have been chopping veggies and getting a corned beef going in the crockpot. I went on line to see which was the preferred method of cooking, and it looked like the crock pot won....but there were plenty of votes for both the stove top and the crock pot. I opted for the crock pot since I could just do it and get it going instead of having to wait. And he also wanted a pineapple upside down cake. I tried to talk him into a pie because of the date....I think the Pi date is pretty interesting, but noooooo, he wanted cake. So he made the cake while I was fixing the corned beef brisquet. I told him to put extra brown sugar and butter on the bottom part, and add lots of pecans and marachino cherries....it did look great. We will see.....but I would rather have pie, so maybe this will be better for my fat rolls. :)

So since I cannot make a small corned beef meal, I invited friends over to help eat it......I wish Sun was closer, I would have loved to share. :)

jj - so far I've been struggling with my printer and playing games. Just ate a grilled cheese sandwich for breakfast. Wishing I had Glams corned beef and cabbage instead.

Glam - I always do my corned beef in an electric skillet - only because that was how my daddy always cooked it. I like to put potatoes and turnips in with mine too.

I'm the odd one, I don't like corn beef and cabbage. Or at least I didn't. I been trying things that I didn't like before and mostly I still don't like them. Somethings I now do. Another thing about getting older.

I got a baby shower to go to in a little bit, and then supper at son's house so I won't be around much today.

Glam I got go from DH. From our schedule, it won't be until next month though. Hope you are ready to relive some war stories!!

Sun.....I remember the electric skillet for roasts.....made the best dang roasts!! But seems when the crock pot came along, the electric skillet roasts went away. Probably cause the crock pot was easier. But some of the best cooked roasts I ever ate came from an electric skillet.

I did not put any turnips in.....hubs, who has never shown any violent tendencies, might have beat me. I put in red potatoes, carrots, celery, and onions. I would like the turnips....hubs thinks there are no root vegetables except potatoes.

Okay I had a gray hair moment (nope not saying old). Baby shower isn't until tomorrow.

It is going to be at Heritage Lake.

Got out there and met some new people. :D

The roads out there have been terrible for years and they get worse every year. You have to putt putt down the road @ 10/20 miles an hours.

I did see something different though. Nice new speed bumps.

Afternoon beachmates :D

Now I really want to make a corned beef roast :?: I never have…. DH says they are full of fat, thus he doesn't want one :glare: Maybe I'll get one at the store and make it for my son and myself :D I agree with Mr Glam though…. turnips = blech!

Did Dale work today?? She doesn't usually work on Saturdays….. so where is she?? :sneaky:

Hubs did go to work today. He has some report that has to be done by the end of the week. Apparently he is behind on it. Then tonight he will watch the final game in the ACC tourney. My alma mater (UNC-Chapel Hill) is playing :thumb: It will be great if they win…. but I don't get all rabidly crazy about it like a lot of people do
