I was never into saving tin foil and never washed baggies.

The baggies you wear all the time? I bet they can stand in the corner, and maybe even come when called!

Don't laugh, for awhile when we lived down in rural illinois on 10 acres I had milk goats and actually did make cheese and would trade goats milk cheese with a friend for some high fat cow milk from her cows and made my own butter.

Was fun.

Never once used an old butter tub. :p

Where did you buy new, empty butter tubs? :D

Aunt and Uncle had a farm and they'd bring in fresh milk. We'd skim the stuff off the top and make butter. Talk about YUM!

There's a goat farm not far from here where a friend buys goat's milk products. They make them all right there. We took a tour of the place and got to see the whole process. The little kids were so cute and funny.

Yeah they are hilarious. I can't find two of the pictures I wanted to post. It's driving me crazy looking on my old hard drive for them. I used to put diapers on the bottle babies and bring them in the house. I had a picture of two of them wearing their diapers curled up under my desk sleeping while I worked, and another looking like the flying nun jumping off the living room couch. LOL

Aren't they worse at chewing on things than puppies?

Can you tell what the note says?

Actually, no, they didn't chew on much at all. First--goats have no upper teeth in the front. They are very ineffective at chewing hard things like wood furnishings and stuff. They do paper, and like it for the gum on it, not the paper itself. however,... the old "goats eat anything" is part myth, part truth. Goats are not garbage pickers. They are actually VERY picky eaters. At the same time... they can and do eat all types of plants and weeds, making them excellent weed-eater / yard / woods clearing animals. LOL Pigs are great for that too. Actually in many ways better because they root with their powerful snouts and get plants way at the base. However, they are really hard to herd where goats are easy.

WesMar Farms here has some different types/breeds of goats for different things, some to be able to vary the sweetness of some of the products, like milk and ice cream. They also make soaps and other things. I can't remember what all they make there.

Yep, we had alpines and apline mixes for milk (there are a lot of dairy breeds, but I liked the alpines personalities best)... we had boers adn boer mixes for meat (the boers crossed with diary breeds were good all purpose goats for both)... and we even had a couple of angoras for wool.

There are a few breeds that produce high fat content milk that is good enough for butter, but really never quite as good as a cow's milk for fat content.

You certainly know your goats! :) Alpines and their mixes sounds familiar from the tour, and so does boer. I think they had some angora, too. Some were used for bulk milk, and they'd sweeten it with another's milk.
