I rarely hear my cell phone when I'm home. We have a land line (as you know) and the cell is usually in the kitchen or bedroom...where ever my purse is.

Tink has disappeared too. Maybe she is coming to Illinois to look for Lisa.
Lisa has her sworn to secrecy, so she had to scoot.

I could tell by the age, and the list of people associated with them that I had the right person. I went to about 7 or 8 sites, and none of them gave me a phone number....but maybe if there is no land line, they do not have the info.

That's true. A lot of people don't have a landline anymore, getting everything on the cell. I don't think there is a site that will give up cell numbers. At least not yet, and maybe never.

I have several outside pockets on my purse....but by the time I figure out which one the noise is coming from, the caller has usually died of old age.
Me too!!! We are seriously considering getting rid of our land line because of all the solicitations we get (and we are on the Do Not Call list)
It is particularly irritating since I am trying to sleep during the day when they call. If our alarm system were not tied to the land line, it would be gone already!

That's not surprising. I'd certainly wish they wouldn't, but I guess they aren't considered private anymore.

I guess you could just disconnect all the phones and only let it be used for the alarm... no incoming calls that way.

I hear you....we are on the do not call list too, and I get anywhere from 5 to 7 calls a day. I never answer the solicitors because of caller i.d., but it is a pain to be doing something and being interrupted just to run to the phone to ignore it.

Our number is too and we get them all the time. Irritates the crap out of me.
Nothing is ever done if they ignore the Do Not Call list so many are ignoring it.

That is an option. Could turn off all the ringers and let the answering machine get the calls (in case anybody called that I needed/wanted to hear from). However, it would be nice to save that ~$65/mo if we could get rid of the land line all together.
We don't keep a phone in the bedroom because the junk calls. This is bad if there is an emergency.
Edit. The kids know to call our cells at night if they need us.
