Lounging By The Beach - Part 8

Hey guys......

This is the first time I have gotten to my computer today....and have not done any back reading. Started the day with a text at 5 a.m. from daughter saying she was going to the dr. as soon as his office open because of her pain so she was not coming....and then I over slept....clock said 7:20 when I woke up. Had to be at train station to pick up sis, and pick up my granddaughter and boyfriend in same city (65 miles away) at 9:30. So needless to say, it was pretty tense here this morning. Turns out daughter has a UTI and is on heavy duty pain killers and antibiotics.

Made it down to pick them all up....only 10 minutes late!

Visit with both sisters and granddaughter/boyfriend went well. Brought my other sister home with me to stay until Friday when I take her to the airport to fly home to Lake Havasu, AZ.

This is my first real relaxing moments since 7:20 this morning.

Now going to go back read.

It was a decent payday. Thanks. Not the best I've ever had, but far from the worst.

Tell me about Stefanie today.

She was happy to see us....we stopped and bought crackers and chicken salad and deli cookies. And root beer....she loves root beer. I got a few words out of her.....her brain and mouth really have a disconnect. It is sad because she is still the same person as she was before the stroke....except for that one big difference.....communication...and the right side paralysis. I think she could deal with the paralysis if she could just talk to us. But the story is not all sad......you can tell all the caregivers there love her, and it is genuine. And she loves them....they have become a new family to her. Her sense of humor is still intact....and we still laugh together. But the sadness is always lurking...in all of us.

I am going to say good night.....I am so tired. I almost did not even turn on my computer after dinner because I was ready to go right to bed. Sis and hubs have already retired....and I am ready too.

Yeah, sis will be doing nothing. She'll be worn out from "retiring" with your DH.

Does any of the therapy seem to be helping?

It is hard to tell.....she responds well, but does not seem to remember from one day to the next what we went over....but I do not see her on consecutive days. And the only other therapy, besides my pittance, is the massage therapist who we hired. She goes two evenings a week, and she sends me an email after each one. She has been a Godsend.....she and my sister hit it off immediately. She takes little food treats, and a whole dinner once a month....and is keeping a positive outlook. I do know the massages have kept my sister's muscles loose and pliant. Hopefully, we will see more in the future....maybe not. One day at a time.
