In that case, compare the insides of all the USB Plugs on the laptop, to make sure that they all look exactly the same. Get a flashlight and shine it inside so you can see. The one you plugged something into upside down may be broken inside. You can't usually plug something in upside down without breaking something. That would have caused the short that turned it Off. In a big way, you were quite lucky there was no further damage.
I think I was really lucky...when hubs checked it the next morning, he said it looked like I was trying to plug the wrong end into the port...he said the ecig end was laying by the port.....and you know, that is something I could really do if I wasn't looking, which I wasn't...I just wanted to go to bed. I really do some pretty stupid things when it comes to anything electrical. Hard to believe, isn't it?
