Low Resistance On Cobra Coil

Hi guys,

I have just bought a clone Cobra atty. The issue i have now is that the resistance shown of the coil that I made isnt consistent. First showing as being around 1.8 ohm than slowly dropping to 1.2 which is where my Zmax stop firing. However this is ok on mechanical mod I tested.

What have I done wrong? Should I change to other higher resistance Kanthal wire?

You probably just need to fiddle with the wire to get resistance back up move it around.

tried already.. i think maybe need to change different awg rating

Maybe microshorts. Try pulling wick out and see what resistance reads with only the coil.

I'm running into the same issue. Had pulled the wick and the coil stayed consistent. What actually causes shorts with a mesh wick? It is not touching the center post or bottom of the tank...

It is touching the coil which is hooked to the pos. keep fiddling like they said. Just touching wick can change ohm.

Or simply add another wrap.

And make sure you are making good firm contact between the pos post nuts, this can also cause ohms to dance.

Solved my issue. I did not oxidize my mesh enough. I heated and quenched 3 times and then burned juice on it 3 times. Apparently it wasnt enough for the Cobra as it is for my Zenesis.
