Do you get the same amount of nic vaping at a low wattage as you would at a higher wattage? I know the cloud would be bigger at a higher wattage, but I have asthma and I'm vaping 18mg nic freebase so anything above 16w kills my lungs. I'm using vaping to get off cigarettes, I smoke about a pack and a half a day and I'm trying to simulate that right now.

I think you're on the right track. A lot of folks here find they don't need as much nic when sub-ohming. Thus, since a lot of gear is marketing to that crowd, we've seen the nic levels of most juices go down to 3-6mg.

I vape at 9 watts and started at 18mg. Today, I am down to 6mg.

Thanks so much for that info! I was worried I was doing something wrong. lol. I was wondering why most ejuices I see now a days are 3-6mg.

    Uh, depends. :)

Most high watt vapers run low nic, since they get massive clouds. Might even out.

I vape around 18 mg/ml as well, and do that at 8.5 watts across about a 1.5 ohm coil. And, looking back many years, was about a pack and a half smoker when I started.

What worked for me was going to about 24 mg/ml for a couple months. At the start, again for me, 18 didn't quite do it. Spent a few months at 24 then dropped back to 18, about 10 years ago :) No plans to change, as I like my nic :)

And, of course, finding a flavor or 10 that you like.

Keep your vape close and your cigs distant.

Welcome to ECF, BrainTwinge. I vape in the 7 - 8 watt range with a coil in the 1.5 - 2 ohm range. My unflavored nic base is 25 mg/ml, that # comes down somewhat lower if I add any flavor to the base.

I vape at 12W same as I did when I started. 1.2 ohm coils. Originally 24mg nic, now down to 6mg.

If you vape at high power you use more juice per hit so you don't need the same concentration of nic.

Since you need to use low watts you will definitely need higher level nic to begin with.

Do you have access to a good range of different nic concentrations where you live? I know higher level nic is less common these days, and hard to get at all in some places.

With your asthma it might be worth starting with pods. They come with very high nic level. Doing that you might not have to take many hits per hour to give you what you need. You could even supplement your nic intake with lozenges or somesuch.

I also am in the higher nicotine / low wattage camp.

I use 15 mg nicotine DIY juice and vape it with a 1.3 ohm single coil powered by 10.5 watts.

Still using the 'old school' Kayfun Lite Plus V2 after all these years.

This morning I loaded up an ole SR resistance cartomizer, (in a tank of course) So 3 ohms.
And, then put it on an old V1 Provari. They have a 1.5 Amp limiter. So 4.4 volts is as high as it will fire. That's only about 6 1/2 watts. So the old stuff kinda put a limit on how you could vape.

We made up for this lack of power by how we mixed our liquids. 2.4 mg worked pretty well, and 1.8 mg seemed to be the norm. Now I'm using 1.2 mg.
0.3 & 0.6 mg juice didn't come about until folks figured out that they couldn't handle the "normal" nicotine strengths at a high wattage.

In the end, vaping 3ml of 1.8 mg juice/day, or vaping 10ml of 0.3 mg juice/day is about the same nicotine/day consumption.
So now stop and think about it. Which would the vape shop want to sell you, 3ml/day or 10ml/day.
Being as that 10ml/day juice was actually cheaper to produce.

Forgetting for the moment that the amount of wattage does not actually equate to the size of the cloud produced, smaller builds with less mass do require less watts.

It is generally considered that smoking addiction has TWO elements:
    #1 the nicotine
#2 the hand/mouth motion involved in 'taking a puff'

The general idea is to substitute vaping for the experience of smoking. While part of that might include having enough "throat hit" on each 'puff' to be satisfying, the hand/mouth motion as well as getting enough (but not TO MUCH) nicotine in the experience is essential.

Most folks recommend pairing higher nicotine juices with low vapor output devices and conversely high vapor output devices with low nicotine juices.

The thinking is that low output devices paired with low nicotine juices might not deliver enough nicotine to be satisfying while pairing high output devices with high nicotine juices the user could easily get to much nicotine (NOT FUN!).

As it is nearly impossible to determine how much nicotine you absorb from a hit on a vape, go with what satisfies your need. New folks tend to start with high nic/low wattage until they get their nicotine cravings under control and then start working the nic level down to what satisfies that urge.
