So I got in my head, that I wanted to go really low on nicotine. I've been vaping exclusively/off cigarettes for at least a good 2 months now, but I started out on the highest nic level, of 2.4. I had bought one bottle of 1.8 and was ok with that, but then when I got more juice this past week I got 0.8, and a 0.4. The flavors are great, but oh my God am I going through withdrawl. Why you ask? I've got it in my head now that nicotine itself is bad too, that it still causes wrinkles, I've noticed my face has new and becoming noticeable sag around my mouth/cheeks. So I took drastic measures and I'm trying to get down to very low nicotine, to eventually 0 mg. How do I make this transition easier? I assumed it would be easy bc I've broken the habit of smoking but even now I've found myself craving cigarettes, when I hadn't before. I don't want to do the unthinkable, and slip up, but I dont want to go back up in nicotine either, I've only been vaping my low nicotine since Wednesday so dont want to go back up. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated :)

When I quit last time, I was using eGo Twists and 18-24 mg juice and it sucked. The juice had no flavour other than pepper due to the high levels of nicotine. This time around, I'm using mods with a big dripper and an orchid and I'm using 4-8 mg juice as the delivery system is WAY better. What gear are you using? I was a 2pad smoker and am almost 3 weeks in this quit. I couldn't EVEN imagine using 12mg juice with these devices. I'd never sleep.

Nicotine has no effect on your appearance, at least not the kind you are describing. If you want to stay off cigarettes, I'd advise you to get the nicotine back ASAP.

Nicotine is actually no more harmful than caffeine; it's only the ignorant and those brainwashed by the ANTZ who have this idea that nicotine is a "bad guy." You're doing yourself no favors by eliminating it so quickly -- maybe after 2 YEARS, but certainly not 2 months.

The "aging" effect you see around your mouth is an artifact of the "pursed lips" necessary to draw from a cigarette or e-cigarette, and the presence or absence of nicotine has no effect one way or the other. I echo the post above, if you want to do less lip-pursing, then you need a HIGHER nic level, not lower.

Depending on your current age, there may be nothing you can do about those marks around your lips, short of plastic surgery. I have the vertical wrinkles around my lips, and at the age of 53, I know they're here to stay -- I certainly can't afford surgery to get rid of them.

My doctor used caffeine similarity when we were discussing it. I don't know what his qualifications are, other than being a GP, but I suspect they have similarities. Anyway, he said it was good.

Nobody ever said, that I know of, that vaping was a smoking cure-all. But, I believe it is a whole lot better than smoking.

I am down to a third of the nic that I started at and I intend to go lower. But not today. I will get there, I am just not pushing it.

I would venture to say that the craving is a couple of things that aren't directly related to nicotine at all. You are missing all of the chemicals that are in a cigarette. Of course you are supplementing this by vaping. But that doesn't stop the rest of the little gremlins that you miss from a smoke gnawing at you a bit. Your body is missing the several thousand other things that make up a cigarette/tobacco. All you have is the physical aspect of vaping being similar to smoking and the nicotine itself. This is enough for many of us to quit. There are a number of sources that say nicotine in and of itself is not addictive. If all we needed was to give our bodies an alternate nicotine source, gum and patches would be FAR more effective. Your choices seem to be up the nicotine level or smoke. The second part is really the nature of most addictions some ridiculous stuff our minds come up with to get us back to what changes the way we feel. In other words absolutely normal. I am curious how many of your friends would say you look fabulous not to mention smell a hell of a lot better. Just my totally legit internet opinion.

I switched from smoking for 37 years to vaping 18 mg juice. I vaped that for 3 months and then I lowered my nic levels slowly over the next six months ending up at zero.

I think I could probably have lowered the nic a bit faster, but I didn't so I don't know for sure. I'm pretty sure it took me about 16 months to get completely free from the cigarette addiction. I make a significant distinction between cigarette addiction and nicotine addition. Not everyone does that :)

IMO if you are having an issue with reducing nicotine levels I would back off of that for a bit before risking smoking again. The most important thing IMO is that you stay off cigs and it doesn't matter how much nic you vape while you are doing that. Vaping nicotine doesn't really hurt us, smoking really does. The chemistry is completely different.

Best of luck with it stacy!
