The first time I vaped in '09 I started at 24mg and 18mg, I was at 4mg - 0mg in a month. Turns out it wasn't the nicotine that was making me feel bad it was the PG, but I can't say there was any withdrawal cutting that fast.

This time I started at 11mg (18mg was too much because I was chain vaping getting over wanting a cigarette) was down to 5.5mg and then part time 0mg in 2-3 months, moving into most of the time 0mg after that. This time no problems with VG.

But I did have physical problems with no nicotine so my hopes of no nicotine was ended after I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis after about 6 months. I've since moved up to 18mg and my vaping intake is much like my smoking was @1-1.5PAD lights.

Very curious, Nic helps the Colitis or lack of Nic aggravates it?

Hi all,
I am on day four as a non-smoker.
I began vaping 18mg, and went down to 11mg after a day, as I found it was exactly the same, just less of a hit, which I don't miss.
I'm just wondering, how long did it take everyone to get down to 0mg?
I only ever smoked roll-ups, approx 12 a day, and they were very thin (prison) rollies anyway . So I'm wondering if even 11mg is too much? I only use my e cig as and when I would an analogue, and it's giving me a bit of a croaky throat. I have no 'intention' to quit vaping, it's not really an issue, but I do want to be nicotine-free!

I read a book a few years ago and this guy that had stat's that said nrt was not using high enough nic levels for long enough. So,I think slower reductions maybe better in the long run. If you do lower it faster, remember to keep some high nic around just in case... High stress will cause you to want to smoke. So, MY theory is if high stress hits, up the nic if need be so you don't smoke.

I guess the best answer is we are all different. I'm only about 5-6 weeks into it, but I find every time I try to drop from 24mg to 18mg I start thinking I want a cigarette. 24mg knocks that craving right out usually. So I think I'll stay here for a while till I'm further removed from the smokes. If this is where I stay, I'm ok with that too.

Perhaps a stupid question, but people mention different nic levels and taste changes all the time...

What does nicotine taste like?

I don't know, it's supposed to be tasteless. But when I increased my nicotine I didn't notice a throat hit but I did notice a fuller flavor.

This says it better than I can.
Nicotine treatment for ulcerative colitis

The conclusions I draw is there's more to smoking protecting against UC than nicotine or else nicotine alone would help hold remission better than placebo. Nicotine in conjunction with UC meds increases effectiveness at remission and holding remission.

I go to Gastro in a week. That'll be a good question to ask.

I started at 12 MG which was too strong for me. I used to smoke a pack a day of ultra lights. Dropped to 8-9mg with my next order. Then to 6 for a month. Now I am at 4 for the last month. Planning to drop to 2 mg with my next set of juices.

That said I do keep a bottle of 6 mg menthol around for the morning smoke replacement and emergency cravings.

I was never a big fan of throat hit anyways so I haven't really noticed its absence as I went down. When I hit 0 I am not quitting though. I just enjoy vaping.

I started at 24mg and switched to 18 fairly easy. however, I tried 12 mg and found that very difficult. So,I started dropping 2 mg at a time.
I am at 12 now. I am going to hold here a while, a few months then reduce by 2 mg at a time again.
