Lowest OHM rating you can use on a variable voltage mod?

I use 1.2 ohm on them without any problems. Someone is going to pop on here and state that this ohm must go with this power level, etc, etc. but all my vaping friends use anything from 1.2 ohm up on their VV's with no problems. And that includes a $19 VV box mod. The exception from what I have read is the lavatube which has all sorts of limitations from what others have posted on here and other vaping sites.

Yea I was talking about the LT (how did you know? lol) On their site it says don't use anything below a 1.5OHM (I just wanted to make sure it was ok to use a 2.0 or 2.5.) I assumed you could but I just wanted to make sure.

Unfortuntely, I just received my replacement LT from Volcano and again, there is a build quality problem. This time there seems to be what looks like water spots on the underneath side of the plastic LCD covering (it's covering like 3/4 of the cover) and looks like crap. I asked them to check over the replacement before they sent it out, clearly they did not do that.

So I had to open another ticket up again. I'm about to returnt he whole thing and just order my Provari, this is really ticking me off now.

Sorry to hear about your problems with the lavatube. From what I have read, you are not alone. Unfortunately there are a few lavatube "fanboys" on ECF that promote it like it is better than a Provari, Darwin, etc. One particular fanboy has gone as far as stating no one should ever need to use dual coil cartomizers or vape above 4.2 volts. Anyway, I hope you get to work for you.

I mean it's fairly attractive and all but the build quality is not very good (have to send the device in two times in a row is proof of that alone.) It just makes me more excited to get my ProVari...btw the cover over the lcd screen on the ProVari's...is it glass or good quality plastic? The cover over the lavatube screen is a very thin/flimsly plastic that bends if you push on it, I was really surprised when I saw this.

I have a variable wattage Darwin which has a strong glass or acrylic cover, not sure which one. But it is solid. I've dropped it many times with no problems. I would guess the Provari has something similar to the Darwin. The're about the same price.

The LT at 2.5 ohms provides enough current capacity to handle 2 ohms fine and probably works with lower resistances, but what you will find is that you aren't getting the voltage displayed on the lower resistances due to overload on the regulator.

On the Provari, 2 ohms at 3.7v will give you clouds of vapor even with 100% PG juices and the voltage will be as advertised. Try an inline DVM on the Lavatube and see what happens at lower resistances. It limits the actual voltage supplied to prevent an over current shutdown.

The Lavatube is a good VV mod for the price. It just needs to be used within its capabilities.

Here's an example.

Lavatube has a 2.5A limit and doesn't go below 3V, V=IR so 3=2.5R so R=1.2Ohm minimum resistance. That would be running it at full capacity though, and not recommended. I wouldn't try to go below 1.5 Ohm (I've used these), 2+ will be perfectly fine.

What a POS, then. I have friends with VV box mods without that kind of limitation.
