Hey all,

I have a question about LR atomizers. I have just started using them recently and love the vapor and the thickness of the vapor. It is a very satisfying way to vape.

I've heard they don't last very long especially if used with a low voltage battery like the 510 and if they are allowed to 'dry'.

Could someone tell me how best to maintain an LR atomizer and what it means to keep it 'wet'. Does that mean making sure it has e-liquid at all times?

Also, is there a higher voltage battery for the 510 than the XL 510 batteries on the market? I understand the XLs are 280 mp.

One final question. What is better, a Riva or an Ego?

Thanks

Anthony

Just started going through this change myself. Here is what I have learned from the helpful people on this forum.

510LR attys should be used with batteries like the riva, ego, etc. You need a higher battery because the LR attys require more power and will quickly drain the regular 510. If you vape only a little through the day you should be alright. But if you vape alot then you stand a chance of burning out your 510 battery. Also, many companies will not honor their guarentees on batteries if you have been using LR attys.

You should treat your LR atty the same way you treat other atty's. Make sure you clean them regularly. I have received no advice on the atty getting dry. All I have been told about burning out and such are concerning cartomizers.

I have no opinion on what brands are better - they seem to be about the same. I think you need to make sure the company you deal with is a good one - that seems to be more important.

Hope this helps a little. I am still learning so I am sure a veteran can help you more.

The LR 510's work great with the Hello 016 1300 mah battery. I chose the Riva over the Ego because of price and the button is better. You can buy the Riva kit from Eastmall for 39.00 and the LR 510 attomizers are 3.00. The catch is the shipping is 17.00 so you need to place a big order to make it worthwhile.

Thanks for that. I don't know if East Mall ship to Australia but I will check them out. $39 is cheap! I keep hearing about this button preference between the Ego and Riva.

I've never heard of a Hello 016 but that sounds like a massive battery.

Thank you. That helps a lot. There are plenty of good videos on cleaning the attys. My main problem is I can't find pure alcohol anywhere so far in Australia.

Low resistance atomizers tend to produce a bit more vapor and throat hit because of it's higher vaporizing temperature. However, the flavor also becomes harsh. It really sucks for mint type of flavors.

I've noticed that about the flavour but the vapor is unreal :)

Electronic Ash has the Riva kits for $52.99 with free shipping. If you think about it, this is a good deal because EM charges $17.00 for shipping. So from eastmall you would actually pay $57.00 for the kit. Just wanted to let you know. Also, Taras (the owner of Electronic Ash) is a awesome person to deal with. Customer service is top notch and shipping is always fast.

CV ;)

P.S. I just bought a Riva kit for my Wife from EA. She tried the 510 but gave up on it and still hasn't kicked the analogs. I am hoping the Riva will make the difference. I vape at 6V with a Saber Touch, so I am a very satisfied vaporer. (Is that even a word, LOL)

Just from my experience (of course ymmv), when atty is newer cleaning with water and/or vodka helped. As atty ages and build up increases dry burn most effective.
I use PT when doing dry burn for higher power/heat.

I blow through a drinking straw to direct air straight into the atty. This also allows me to see inside the atty while dry burning so I can tell when the coil is glowing.
there have been times that I would get alot of smoke coming off the atty but see no glow on the coil. Then slowly as the residue burns off the coil will start to glow. I keep going until there is no more smoke coming out and/or the coil glows all the way across its surface.

Before stating dry burn I will notice that the coil is very dark if not black. When done the coil looks white.
I blow air on coil while burning and then for a few seconds after releasing the button to help cool.
This is really good for my brideless atty that I drip on as I can easily se the coil but have done it with atty that has mesh on it, just have to go through burning process longer.

I have an atty right now that is bridgeless and 45 days old, dry burn it every 2nd or third day. Used to be once a week but as time passes and it gets older and more used cleanings need to increase.

JMHO, no one method will work perfect everytime, is going to take expeimentation to see what is effective and also dependant on atty's condition.

A very simple and quick way to clean atty's is to use an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner, they can be had fairly cheaply.

That looks like a good way to burn up an atty. I don't think I would do it that way. The only way I have cleaned min out so far is to blow it out and then reuse it again. I have heard that an alcohol cleaning also works well, but I have not tried it yet.

yeah the alcohol theory is good, but it really dries out your atty so priming will be something to worry about.. when i primed my lr 510 brand new it took five drops to prime. and thats with the factory oils on them... alcohol is an iffy

Thanks Chainvapor. I am in Australia so if Electronic Ash chargers international purchasers, the equation changes.

What is the difference between a regular atty and a high voltage atty?

Thanks for that. I will try it. What does it mean to dry burn? Does that mean you clean the atty without any liquid and just air from a straw?

Besides alcohol, you can clean atties with vinegar, hydrogen peroxide, or Crest Pro Health mouthwash. But many prefer just to run warm water through an atty. Check out the tips section for other useable cleaners.
Oh, and some clean atties with denture cleaning tablets, like Polident.

Oh vinegar is a good idea but won't that pungent vinegar cause a flavour residue in the atty? Do you run water over the atty after cleaning with any of the above?

You have to prime to clean with alcohol? What does 'priming' involve? So what is the best way to clean the atty effectively without too much fuss or risk of damage then? Hot water sounds like it might be the most effective way to clean a not-so-old atty.
