LR megas for use with V4L XL manual batts?

Anyone know if the new LR megas would be appropriate or preferable for use with my standard V4L batts?

I got some LR sent to me by mistake and they didn't like my V4L XL batts one bit. Burnt the first one right away. I thought it was because 4.2V fresh off the charger was too high. Next one I made sure I waited till the battery was almost fully drained. Didn't burn right away. Took about 5 or 6 puffs before I detected that "taste". So, for me, LR is a no go on V4L. They work perfectly on my Elegant Easy (Ego clone), though I just got my replacement pack of SR megas in the mail today. According to one of the stickies about cartos, it says that even these need to be broken in on an Ego type batt before being introduced to higher voltages, so I think I'll try gradually stepping up this time (Elegant>V4L>GLV2) and see how they perform.
