I have a stock EVOD.

I noticed that dragging hard doesn't work that well with them so I take the vapor into my mouth in a long and soft drag. If I hear the air holes going "sssssssss" then I'm pulling too hard. The taste and vapor production is also better.

Once I can't draw anymore smoke I inhale and am treated to an awesome throat hit.

I smoked cigs the same way except the drags were shorter.

Direct lung inhaling kills me, I just can't do it, it's too harsh.

It depends what kinda of atomizer I am using. As a cloud chaser all of my rda are drilled out or have big airholes. When using these I lung inhale because its the way to get clouds. When using rtas like my aqua I mouth inhale just because that's the only way I can the airflow is to restricted

I recently changed my vaping method. Anyone who reads my previous posts in this thread would see that I was a lung-inhaler all the way.

But now - thanks to you people here in ECF - I've learned a better way*. It took a couple of months to get through my thick skull, but at least now I have it! ;)

More slowly than I did before, I lung inhale, letting the flavor pour over my tongue like I'm carefully pouring water from a pitcher. I don't hold the vapor in at all. My lungs are only a "buffer" to contain the vapor for a very brief moment as I turn it around. I immediately begin exhaling, but even more slowly this time, letting the vapor pour from my mouth so that I can both appreciate the flavor and get a better hit from the nicotine. Which I do, by the way.

I tried also opening my nasal passages when I exhale, as many here have recommended, but I just couldn't get to where I could do it without having to "think about it" every time. It never came naturally. So I just do it the way I described above.

And I'm very happy with the results.

:)

I'd recommend giving this method a try to anyone who lung inhales but feels that they're not getting quite enough flavor or nicotine effect from their vaping.

(* - When I refer to this method as a "better way", I meant that it's a better way for me. Vaping is very subjective, so it may or may not be even close to the best way for anyone else.)

I used to inhale directly to my lungs with cigarettes. But have changed to the mouth way with vaping. The cloud is denser with vapor therefore when I did a direct lung inhale with vaping I ended up in a huge coughing fit. So I switched to the mouth before inhaling and it stopped the coughing. Not entirely sure why it works but it does. 4 weeks of vaping this way its natural to me now, not awkward like it was when I first started vaping.
Exactly the same for me, I had to learn a different way, the old way had me coughing.
And I am completely off the analogs now :)

Learning to vape effectively took some time, trial and error. Which is probably why I continued to smoke when I first started vaping. I agree that vaping, like smoking, is a personal experience that people learn or adjust to so that their experience is enjoyable. If vaping wasn't satisfying I'm sure I would go back to smoking. Hand in hand with technique, finding the right juice was, and continues to be, somewhat of a challenge. My mindset was to find the right tobacco flavor. Opening myself up to trying other flavors has enhanced my vaping experience and satisfaction.

i smoked cigs for 14 years with mouth inhale. Started vaping and was like...how the heck are these guys blowing crazy clouds. Did some research, tried to do lung inhales on 6mg juice. Immediately thought to myself "Why on gods green earth would anyone do this to themselves".

I then started to DIY e-liquid, started making 2mg nicotine juice. I then tried lung inhales again and I had my A HA moment.

I now settle on a hybrid style draw, where I lung inhale then finish with a mouth draw. I get the best of both worlds not to mention CLOUDDDDDDDDS.

TLDR; Lung inhales on a sub-ohm rda really do require using 4mg/3mg or less , unless you have iron lungs.

Glad I found this thread, as it is helping me improve my technique. I have always been a mouth inhaler, with analogs I would always draw it into my mouth, open my mouth and do a ghost/snap inhale. I had tried to lung inhale analogs a few times, but felt like I was going to die! With vaping I used the same technique to start. Now I find that if I use a hybrid lung/mouth inhale technique I find it to be the most efficient for me. I draw not using a tight seal with my mouth so that the vapor starts going directly to my lungs, then I finish off with a ghost inhale, where I am re-inhaling the vapor that I directly inhaled as well as the vapor that only made it as far as my mouth initially. Much quicker buzz than just mouth inhaling, so it's good when I don't have as much time to vape.

Really old thread here. Been vaping for a year now and now im confused. So when I inhale with my mouth and pull it in my lungs is that considered a mouth hit? And with a mouth hit are you only putting the vapor in your mouth then exhaling out, like the dummies in high school who liked to pretend they smoked? Also I'm assuming that there would be no throat hit with a mouth hit. That's the only reason i vape is for throat hit. And what is a lung hit? Just when I thought I had this down I find this.

A mouth hit is generally when you draw the vapor into your mouth first, then inhale it into your lungs, although a few don't inhale at all. A lung hit is where you draw the vapor directly into your lungs as you inhale, all in one step. I never knew there was such a thing as a lung inhale until I read about it on ECF. I find a direct lung inhale to be harsh and it gives me a sore throat very quickly. Mouth to lung inhales for me.

Got it. Thank you for the simple explanation. Lung hit sounds brutal.
