Not normal...See a doctor. Maybe something else...
When I had a PG problem blaming it on nicotine I was at 0mg in a month from my first vape. When I tried PG after figuring out it was probably a PG problem my lungs hurt within 1ml. Something to come up from vaping 8 months later is unlikely (unless you recently changed something).
I assume you were a smoker. Lung pain with no other explanation is good reason to see a Dr especially as a former smoker.

Please see a doctor IMMEDIATELY. I am a clinician and we don't want something bad to happen to you - such as that your lungs collapse for instance. Generally, I can tell you in addition that I had a similar experience when I started vaping. In most cases what you describe is due to improper diffusion of the liquid - this can irritate your lungs, causing your neurons to produce a pain response. Then you would need to change your setup/tank/liquid/coil/way of use. Also, you may be sensitive to PG (or VG, unlikely, however). Or you vape too much. Or your nic is too high. In whichever case, please see a doctor. If you just recently changed to vaping from cigarettes you may experience pain as part of the detox process. In this case, it will cease to hurt soon (and would have happened without vaping anyway). All the best! 
Please go to your nearest er and be seen immediately. Do not mess around your body is diligently giving you a warning something is wrong. Don't be surprised if doctor says stop vaping. Most of them mean well and have so much to kno and learn they have at best a casual knowledge of vaping. Just find out from him or her what is specifically wrong..what is the diagnosis and if vaping is the challenge come back here, list your details everything from device, settings, coil, juice specifics and some of the very experienced and knowledgeable people here will guide you to find a solution. Ecf is a wonderful education, I am sorry you are having this challenge in order to discover it. Best wishes and please get seen as quickly as you can.
Do people really expect to hear "lung pain? Oh hell yeah....we're all in complete agony here. Like getting shot in the chest with a cannon! But hey, we ain't smoking those smelly cigarettes, so it's a win!"?

When I complained about any part of my body hurting; my Dad would offer to hit me in another part of my body to help me forget about the pain I was complaining about. It worked well as I stopped telling my Dad when I was in pain.
Back on topic...see a doctor. I doubt it is due to vaping but a DR should be able to help you out much better than an ecig forum anyway.

I can see it for some stuff, but that stuff is so obvious just stop doing it. Like when I tried PG just to make sure I had a PG problem.
