What it comes down to is a lot of the high end mods are made by one or two guys in a small shop, they simply cannot keep up with demand. Even the full production model like the ProVari are out of stock at times. Getting on a list is a risk at times...ask the folks who spent money on the J-Box, at other times it works out well, I got two Chi_You's because I was willing to prepay and wait on the original lists. You have to watch several forum, not just this one, and when you see a pre-production list starting for one you like then make up your mind if you want to pre pay and wait a month or two. Other times like with the iHybrid you have to be Johnny on the spot when they announce a sale time.

There are a lot of very good production mods out there, The ProVari, Saber Touch, BAM, Silver Bullet, REO...all easily available. Buy a production to use now and get on a list later.

Just now I was asking that... I'm not about to plop down 200 bucks on something I might never have...

An Aga T is on the way, along with an EgoT control head. I can use the eVic tubes

i would get the best available...i have a vamo now but really want a hybrid style or a really nice mech seems the production Chinese stuff just dont do it for me ..other than the Zenisis ...that one seems pretty nice but again they are pretty much out of stock...I have time and money is not a problem...I defiantly don't feel the pull to a provari.

Well the Zen is made in New York, not China. Might even point our that he lost his home to Sandy. (don't suppose that would effect production any)
If you want a Zen go to the ENS web site and click on the notify button. You will get an e-mail at the same moment they are entered into stock. They get a few units in every week now, but a production run is only like 100 units ..... not thousands.

Pedro stated when he started he would only make 999 Caravela and those have either been bought or are reserved by people on the pre-order list. Currently he is doing the same with his new 306 dripper tank, except you have to own a real Caravela in order to get on the list. So getting a Caravela today means buying on one of the forum classies. With the iHybrids you have to be logged in at the announced time and quick on the draw...very quick.

Pre-order lists from new makers can be risky but 95% of the time they work out well, for every JBox there are dozens of good pre-order programs like the Chi_You and the Billet Box. I am always going through the Modders forums here as well as one other forums watching for new APVs to be announced.

Honestly if I were you I would make plans to be in New York March 22-23 for Vape Fest. Makers who are always out of stock online will have their PVs and APV available there, in fact it is one reason so many are claiming of of stock right now, they are hoarding for the Fest. Just make sure you are the for the opening bell.

actually it would as this is where the shop is also. and the insurance company didnt want to pony up for damages so it took him a bit to get back up and running.

How can anyone fault the guy making the mod? Its a little arrogant that anyone pretends to know how to tell them how they should operate!
I enjoy the hunt combing the classys and web sights. Having the discipline to not pay a ridiculous price. The cool feeling of acquiring your target.
Why dose someone charge double over retail because someone will pay it. I think its amazing also mods can double in value but hay thats just how it is at this time.
Not talking to anyone in particular but if you want a high end you have to pay the price or put in the time to seek out a deal. There are plenty of Chinese copy's you can get a GG clone for like 30 bucks coopted It dose work but it is a piece of crap compared to the one its copying.
I would suggest a EA mod for a good place to start for a mechanical well made and available. Also Super T mods, The Orion is one of the best hybrids out there and it is in the classys for about 50$ over retail regularly.

I think this is just growing pains in a industry on the brink of changing the world... The day will come where there are mostly top quality devices readily available with "sams club" brands few n far between... Patience is necessary at this point in time so enjoy what it is and collect up some gear bc it may be worth alot someday, if not money, just a significant part of history... Vape on!!!

    who is being arrogant..?

look man no disrespect to you at all, and nobody especially me ( a business owner) would ever tell anyone how to run their business but lets be real...its "rarity by design" and it drives the price up...read the whole thread before you jump in calling names.

actually I have no problem with the price point its the BS a person has to go through to get one. If you think this is some "rite of passage" or "sacrifice" that must be submitted too you my friend are wrong, and the ONLY reason its tolerated is because of the industry is still infantile.
all it will take is a company to clone or produce the same quality in significant numbers and all these "boutique" mod makers wont be able to give their stuff away... "elitism caters to few and offends many"

Ive seen this in other hobbies and trends I dont sweat it tho.

and your counting on what here? china o step in? or a high dollar union shop? good luck.

things like the aga and mod clones prove this doesnt happen here in vaping, even when they do make a nice item the topshelf stuff still sells out. DID, cobra, ZAP, foggatti, always sell out yet china makes some pretty nice atty's now.
it's same reason i dont own a cheap walmart bicycle, or a chinese guitar. i just dont want low end trash. dont care how well it looks like they made it.

not trying to be offensive but some people will always prefer top shelf products if they didnt there wouldnt be 5000 dollar krell amps when a 300 dollar crown does the same thing.

Marshall started making hand wired boutique amps again they cost about 3-5 times a reg marshall yet they cant seem to make enough of them. meanwhile my local music store is having an overstock clearance on mass produced china amps from every maker under the sun.

I can understand both sides to a point. As a hobbyist woodworker, I decided to make my own drip tip. One picture on Facebook later, and I have so many requests that I could literally quit my job today and make drip tips full time. It is very easy to get sucked in over one's head, especially in such a rapidly growing industry as this. My major issue is with the jerk who feels like he needs to have 5 copies of the same LE to put on a shelf, depriving others of the enjoyment of owning one. At that point, you're not a collector, you're just an ....

I am not counting on anything....I see it for what it is no more no less

And I like the comparison to the Music stuff and you are right on your points there I have a Kalamazoo Gibson es 335.
with original PAF's nothing sounds like it. hand wired Amps will always be more money Nolatone and Swart amps will always be 3x more than a Crate...BUT a Vox ac30 gets close at half the price.

AGA-t is a great example of a clone that is basically producing the same "tone" at a 3rd or even a 4th the cost of what it was cloned from.

I am not all mad n stuff, shoot bro its all good if a nice Hybrid is in my future then awesome if not i don't sweat it.

but yeah it will be china and much like the aga Chinese hybrids will be here soon enough ya wanna know why? cause we aint dealing with rocket science...the actual manufacturing that it takes is minimal and the battery technology is extremely simplistic and there is a growing market.
