I really think that the m201 is far better than the M401/402.... Way more throat hit and vapor. My current set up is KR808d batteries with 901 to m201 adapter (from altsmoke) and m201 attys. I like this set up because the worst part of m201 are the batteries. They are sensitive and if you vape too much they shut off for a couple of minutes. When I go out about....I use the batteries with kr808d cartridges...for easy vaping. I have used all ecigs out there and this combo is bar far the best. KR808d batteries come in auto and manual as well. KR808d two piece ecig is by far the easiest to use when you go out.

If you want to compare only performance, the M201 is the best without a doubt. I just hate it that Smoore places so little emphasis on this model. No manual batts, the passthrough took decades to come out etc...

However, not everyone likes a penstyle. For people who wants an excellent compromise between size and performance, i can't think of anything better than the M401/2. I'm talking about non mod ecigs of course (got to make that clear these days). Its also complete with all common accessories and the PCC is excellent imo.

This excellent thread did make clear the superior vapor/throat hit of the M201. My newbness kept me from initially understanding how feasible it would be out & about for extended period of times.

I finally decided M401 for those reasons you mentioned Fedor: Quality product, PCC, manual batteries, etc. EDO sounds like he has a good solution set-up for an on the go M201, but I feared I didn't understand mixing batteries & the adaptor issue with attys.

Absolutelyecigs owes you a tip o' the hat at the very least. I went with them & took your advice on taking advantage of the bulk deals for my order: M401 starter kit, PCC, PT, 10x Manual Batts, 20 Atts!, Bulk Juice, 20 Blank Carts, & Car Adaptor.

I had an initial question & customer service dang near immediately emailed me back with near perfect english skills (Do they have a customer service phone line--I couldnt find it?)

I'm fairly certain I'll be looking for more TH/Vapor in the future, but my initial concern was a reliable product & having enough components that once I commit to my analog break, I didn't find myself in small-town Alabama without a vape.

Thanks again to those who took the time to answer in this thread & to the excellent community here at large. Peace.

Glad you enjoyed the recommendation. Well, i agree that they owe me some tips but they have also helped me a lot by making sure all my business gift purchases were sent perfectly to my clients with no mistakes and also for taking care of all my vaping needs flawlessly this past year!

You are right about the emails and Customer Service. Its the best i've experienced so far. Its the least i can do to recommend such suppliers in the forums. They are not on the forums and there are less chances for spam and intentional advertising.

Hope you get your stuff soon and enjoy your time on ECF!

Received my M401 kit yesterday including accessories & spare parts from Absolutelyegigs. Package arrived on the 10th day and was flawlessly filled as ordered.

Being a total noob, I was somewhat intimidated but I charged a manual battery for 8 hours, added some vg to high-strength coffee flavor, followed cart fill instructions from igetcha's 401 maintenance video being sure to add the extra drop on atty as per Fedor, and...BIG, HUGE, consistent, satisfying clouds with a considerable TH. If this performance is consistent, then this noob will be very happy.

I would order from absolutelye again, however, there are a couple of issues/points I'd like to make. I also ordered two of their disposable e-cigs just so I would have something to vape while my batts were charging. The first one stopped working after the third puff. I had noticed thin streaks of liquid on the one that stopped working when I opened the package. The other works fine, but obviously pales in performance & taste to the real deal...although it was RIGHT on time last night at the theater for 3 hours of Avatar 3D :p.

The only other issue I have at this point is that the usb pt seems a little flimsy compared to the quality of everything else sent. The M401 itself seems to be machined well & as I said: It's providing VERY satisfying hits to a 25 yr 1 1/2 pack a day smoker.

Thanks again guys for helping me have a great experience out of the box with what seems so far a quality product. Also, could anybody steer me to some solid directions on the M401 PCC, I have a few questions and haven't found a thread that answers them? Peace Y'all!!

I'm happy to have been of help. I've been really proud that this thread has survived for more than a year and has helped promote the models that was basically unheard of when the thread started. Not to mention a good supplier too.

It seems that the only significant problem seems to be a disposable unit. I haven't tried this myself but you can send them an email and see if they will replace it.

About the PCC, you can post your questions here or at the Model Specific Forums:

M-401/402 "Mini" & M403 Super Mini - E-Cigarette Forum

If you post here, i'll do my best to reply along with other helpful members as well.

Fedor you might have mentioned it before somewhere, but do you use the stock 401 carts or dip/drip? I love my 401 but I HATE refilling the little buggers. Have you tried any of the XL carts?

I use the stock carts. The original ones from Smoore. I use a combination of refilling and drippping, meaning that i refill the cartridges (not flooding them) and then drip a drop or two on the atomiser.

I wanted to try the XL carts so i emailed Smoore but was discouraged by their reply. I was told that Smoore had tried many times to create a cartridge with the optimum capacity. Each attempt convinced them that the current capacity is the best balance between performance and liquid quantity.

I also read from users who have used the XL carts that:

1) The so called XL carts do not hold that much more liquid as advertised. The difference was not very significant.
2) Was more prone to leakage.

This made me believe the email i received from Smoore even more so i decided not to purchase the XL carts since the current carts are ok with me. I just fill more cartridges and take them along with me. At home, i use a syringe and refill when necessary. Have not felt that this is too much of an issue like many others do.

I especially hate it when people say that the 510 carts are so big yada yada yada....At least the M40x carts gets vaporised till the end. The 510 barely gets half of the liquid vaporised. One model is also larger than the other. Why not compare the M201 with the 510 then? So i think we should learn to compare apple to apple.

Rant done...LOL

Just fired up manual batt/att #2 with my first from scratch liquid (Lorann's Vanilla Butternut flavor). I blew out the atty first this time and this one is hitting great too. Again: Big satisfying clouds and each hit really consistent. Yummy taste.

I'm not having as great an experience with the PT as the manuals, but I'm thinking it's just noobness: Burnt taste and less cloud than the manuals. I'll try and tweak today and I'm sure I will get it.

I think I'm understanding the PCC a little better, but (1. When should I recharge the unit itself and (2. Will it drain a battery that already has a charge?

Man, I gotta thank you again: My experience so far has been smooth & I've only had one analog since yesterday and that amazes me. I truly believe you helped me avoid some pitfalls that seem to have plagued others.

I hope this thread remains easy to find for other noobs. I read sooooo many other threads/recommendations/horror stories, but the info here spoke to me and I'm (pauses to take another deep, foggy, & satisfying hit of vanilla butternut) loving this vaping business.

The PT has a higher voltage and i will recommend that you use a specific atty with the PT and not interchange between the normal batts. The atty is already used to a certain "hotness" and will not perform as good when interchanged. I would encourage more liquid with the PT but again, don't flood it.

As for the PCC, there is an LED indicator that lets you know when the unit is low on battery and when it needs recharging. It should not drain a battery under any circumstances. Its actually like any other charger. Just portable, thats all.

Again, i'm glad to be of help.

After you screw the battery in you'll need to hold in the button on the front of the unit for about 3 seconds... until the light on the front starts flashing. After that the battery tip should flash a few times. To see how the battery charge is progressing just push and release the button on the front again. When the light on the front is green your battery is charged.

Thank you so much banjoman--that's what I was missing. I'm not sure if it was supposed to come with literature but it didn't.

Update on my earlier comment that my pt experience was lacking as opposed to my portable with manual battery: I blew out/drained the atty and started dipping and it's definitely growing on me. Good vapour clouds, TH, and yummy taste now.

Both of my m401 manual batt/atty combinations have continued to be consistent & I'm at only 2 analogs for the day and feel VERY satisfied with vapes.

I usually try to be cool and not gush about things but I am SO grateful to have found vaping. ECF has an amazing community. Peace Y'all!

The trick for me was not rushing it. I started vaping in September but didn't fully quit cigarettes until mid-November. During that time I went through a few periods when I put down the e-cigs and went back to analogs, but I didn't beat myself up about it.

It's a process... just remember that every cigarette you DON'T smoke is a mini-victory. ;)

Nice to see some talk on the 401. This is the only one I own and I really like it. I have just ordered my first round of juice to start refilling and I'm wondering if there is anything you can tell me to help me out. I bought 48 mg with pg and I will cut it with vg and flavors. I will put new poly fill in the carts but I don't have any idea how many drops to put in. Also, have you tried any other fill material? The carts that I bought seem to run out pretty quickly and I'm wondering if I can put more in them if I used a different filler.

Day 3 & My experience with my m401 w manual batts has stayed consistent in quality & satisfaction with the vaping experience.

This has been my best day yet with only two analogs and only a little stress about wanting one quickly on the heels of my first, but a couple of big vapes and I chilled right out.

After more research I've decided to try to be disciplined & exclusively dip because I have tasted what I believe to be rather nasty tasting fumes from polyfill and I personally would prefer to avoid that. And it's worth it: This 401 really delivers a satisfying vapour & TH with the dip. I'm using the contact lens case idea and put velcro on it & my car dash for convenient dipping.

Smart PCC: Once Fedor & BanjoMan got me understanding the pcc it's been an on-the-go perfect solution--always charged and easy to carry. And thanks for the advice about relaxing and being grateful for the 25+ analogs a day x this third day I've avoided. Really starting to like the vapes way better than tobacco...wow.

I must not be the only one who thinks the 401/2/3 is sexy because I went out dancing with friends last night and so many girls wanted to try it...an added bonus on top of all the other benefits indeed. An intelligently delivered demonstration is a great segue into further philosophical conversation I might add. ;)

And hey, I'm a noob and don't know all the do's and don'ts on the forum. Is it proper for me to be posting all this here? I'm hoping to keep this thread bumped so other folks can benefit from it as I have.

One last note, absolutelyecigs.com is refunding to my next order the disposable e-cig that was pretty much doa. Peace Y'all!

Change the material you're using in the carts. I highly recommend the Blue Foam Mod. It takes more juice, the foam stays pressed up against the atomizer wick (because it retains its shape, unlike polyfill), and the juice wicks more evenly than polyfill in my experience. There are other cart mods, and I have tried most all of them (foam, spring/plug, straw/plug, lipton pyramid teabag) and foam came out on top for me. I actually use a black foam used in certain vacuum cleaner filters, but it is very similar to the aquarium filter blue foam so much talked about on this forum. Check the Mods area and search for Blue Foam Mod.
