Well seeing as though there are alot of opinions on this topic. I think I'll just go through with the one most people seem to agree with, which is washing it in distilled water. And honestly I just wanted to try the tank out because I can't even really use it until I get my smok x cube 2. But once I get the x cube 2 I'll be sure to clean everything out in the tank before then. For now, I threw it on my iJust 2 battery with the installed rba coil to see if it would work but it honestly didn't even fire. Maybe a few whisps of vapor thats it.

Autoclaves I have seen in industrial settings clean things with hot steam...

I'd wager that the autoclave is just a part of the process or at the end of it. Likely there is some removal of the cooling fluid with a solvent and a rinse going on beforehands.

Autoclaves - pressurized vessel filled with overheated steam. Practically not steam movement. Never heard about autoclave with cleaning abilities. But I like idea of autoclaved tanks.

Could be that the steam breaks up oils and glues enough so that they just rinse off...

Wasn't there are really interesting post a couple months ago about how any gunk on your metal pieces was NOT actually machine oil? Or am I crazy?

Ok. I'm not crazy. Here y'all go: https://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/f...rning-about-new-tanks-and-machine-oil.690952/

@issy - this person definitely knows what they are talking about I reccommend what they suggest. Using 91% or higher(99%) Isopropyl alcohol(rubbing alcohol) would be the best. I would say acetone but if the O-rings are not made out of viton, and the insulators on a mod are not the type of plastic they should be they will degrade! So rubbing alcohol and some cotton.

What the manufacturers should be doing is putting isopropanol or methanol into an ultrasonic cleaner and tapping away at all the metal before shipping it out and fitting it with rubber but they aren't doing that.

Edit - I don't reccomend home users to put flammable things inside of ultrasonic cleaners. Serious fire hazard!

@Autoclave suggestion - Do not autoclave your tanks or RDAs. Autoclaves are used for sterilization not the removal of solvents/grease/etc. What they do is increase the pressure&temperature of the environment around a material so that bacterial cell walls pop. That won't remove gunk, I mean, maybe it will, but it's a lot of time and effort and energy spent when rubbing alcohol will suffice for 99% of contaminants. Also some tanks have plastic sections, which will not tolerate heat well at all.

Whenever I get a new atomizer, it gets a soak in hot water and Dawn dish detergent, for 10-15 minutes. Dawn cuts oil, grease, or whatever else might be there from manufacturing. I just soak, rinse well, dry it off, and build.
This is what I do but with just regular generic dish detergent. I also take every thing apart that I can and give them a good scrub with a tooth brush then rinse with water.
Has worked for all my attys besides 1 goliath I have. Just can't seem to shift the taste of oil on that one no matter how much I clean it.
