PENNSIC is not LARP. SCA actually researches things. The Pic from Austin was SCA, the pic from San Angelo was Kingdom of Levant, a similar organization with a tighter historical focus.

Then you'd want SCA, they use heavy rattan sticks or steel rapier type foils.. but thicker than fencing foils. Most LARPs use foam covered bamboo or plastic pipes, like nerf bats. It's kinda (read really) dumb.

Nah, we're not that ...... just try not to go totally fantasy. A lot of people smoke cigarettes, that's not period either. A pipe shaped PV would be a heck of a lot less anachronistic.
