I concur with fisty, that wick needs trimmed. I only leave about 1/8th inch above my top coil. When you get your zap you will see the length of your wick affect your resistance. If its untrimmed you will actually get errors on your provari.

so cut it to size with about the top washer/nut area?

It wouldn't hurt to trim the wick. But I respectfully disagree with the Chief. The length of the wick above the coil should not effect the Ωs of the coil. Oxidizing the wick isolates it from the coil. The Ωs of the coil are determined by the gauge of wire and number of wraps.

Earlier you said the leg of the coil to the + post was glowing. As someone said, that's definitely a sign of a short. Test burn your coil, and each wrap should glow with the same intensity and neither the + or - leg of the coil should light up. If your coil isn't glowing uniformly take a toothpick or you finger nail and move the wraps a bit, then try again.

Well all know the Chinese will resort to copying anything. This time they have lowered themselves to copying Murdock's Radiator Phluid. Probably is Radiator Fluid. 50ml E-liquid for Electronic Cigarette Green Arrow Flavor High Content - Electronic Cigarette - Gadgets

It could taste like anything though, they don't say it tastes like anise or licorice anywhere I could see.. could just as easily be apple or grape flavored. The Hungarian review says it tastes like lime and green tea.

While I agree that the length of the wick won't affect resistance, a wick that stands too high above the positive post can be problematic in that the wick can short against the top cap. YMMV

So, I drained the Pluid out of my tank thinking I was tired of it and wanted a change. Vaped some Gorilla juice for less than an hour and had to re-clean and refill with Pluid. I'm really liking it, very sweet, but very light if that makes any sense. The Gorilla juice is pretty thick and heavy to me, even though I like it.

I've read my share of tips and tricks to avoid shorts and probably tried all of them with different rates of success, but the one that ALLWAYS solves it for me is.... oxidize, oxidize, oxidize. If you have a short, take out your wick, turn up the heat a bit more than you did originally and oxidize the crap out of it. You might solve the problem by adjusting and fiddling with it, but in my experience it will just keep coming back. If your wick is properly oxidized it doesn't matter if it touches the top cap, bottom of your tank or whatever, since the current will never get into the wick anyway :) So here is my top 3 tips for fixing shorts: Oxidize, oxidize and oxidize some more :)

Something that helps me get my wicks really, really oxidized is that after I torch and do the juice burn, I simply hold a lighter to it ( a little ways away from it) and burn it really good without it getting hot enough to glow. This lays down a layer of nice black carbon buildup, and I've had no issues with shorts at all, and I'm a noob.

I've read that crimping the top of the wick or folding it over helps with wicking and I have found that to be true. Since I started doing this I haven't had any wicking problems. Just my 2 cents.
