My friend's mother has emphysema and is a smoker. It isn't so bad that she needs oxygen, yet.
When I first started vaping, I tried getting her into it by trying my NJoy (yeah, bad choice) and she nearly coughed up a lung. Then her sister bought her one of those shopping mall rip-offs for $125 (it was one of the Dealextreme $10 e-health kits) and it didn't work out too well. It was mainly because of the battery life and the juice.
I hadn't seen them for a few months but when I did, I let her try my 510 Riva with BWB maxboro and she was impressed. To her, the Max tasted somewhat like a Marlboro and her biggest thing is to vape something that is close to a Virginia Slims Light Menthol. I explained that she won't find a juice replacement but may get something close or something she can work with. And that this is all trial and error, juices and cartos alike.
So finally, last night, we sat down at the computer with the Liberty-Flights site open. We ordered a Riva 510 kit with a set of Smok-Tech cartos and a couple of juices (spearmint and menthol mix). I have a had a couple of LF's juices and they were good for their type (just not to my taste--there are certain flavors that aren't for me, like Virginia types).
I figured it would be best to get everything in one shot at first and then branch out from there. She's already getting ready for my next BWB order since I'll get her a bottle of Backo and give her the bottle of BWB light menthol I have to mix and match. Also, she liked the BWB Melonbacco and eJoker's Juice.
I started her on the basic cartos because they are pretty much plug-n-play. Eventually, I'll give her some CE2 Clearos to try out or hand off the eGo T that I have.
But the one question I have is about PG and VG. I vape BWB exclusively and she coughs a bit when she tries it. But, I myself, did the same thing when I had stopped vaping for a couple of months and went to RYO, then back to vaping. It took me a couple of hours before I could inhale without coughing up a lung. I vaguely remember it being that way when I first started with the NJoy--I think I was coughing because the juice was nasty. But also, my smoking and vaping techniques are different and she takes quick and hard inhales with the PV. I figure I'll have to sit down with her and work it out. Back to my question, would it be easier on her with pure VG or a VG>PG mix? I also think a LR carto might be a good way to go for her too since the vapor is warmer and not as harsh on the throat (at least in my experience).
